Priv
A little while ago I posted about losing some BF while still powerlifting. Someone suggested BBB. I am now in my second month of the three month challenge (60%) and feeling it deadlifting 5x10. Curious if any LSers have tried the challenge and what there results were (strenght/gains/loss etc.). And especially how you experienced the 70% month. The way it looks now I will probably not make it for all the reps and going for 50 reps anyway I can.
Cali408
I did the total body 5/3/1. Basically did sets of 3-5 pullups in between squats, deads, presses and bench. Threw some dips in for assistance work. Once in a while maxed out a set of 20 squats x 235 or did some rest pause stuff. 50 reps of something to warm down after training heavy is too much. I made great gains on the program. 5/3/1 works. I think people make too much out of the dessert (assistance work) vs. entree, big lifts
Author Priv
5/3/1 does work! And honestly, the challenge is too heavy. It also stops after 3 months and is not supposed to be run indefinitely. Been doing 5/3/1 for ummmm 2.5 or so years now I think. Dipped a bit in BBB a year earlier but didn't like it very much as I hate volume. But, my new being single (hence LS) thus must be ripped attitude, made me take on the 3 month challenge. After this I will go back to to the strength training with the 3 month strenght challenge (the routine from his newest book). I have this feeling I will be more than happy returning to heavy singles. Long term I will probably stick with the basic template, but focus more on other areas of fitness as 'accessory'. Last week I started with a ashtanga yoga so might focus on that for a while as it was fun but I am digressing. I tried wendlers recommendation of pull ups between your pushing sets but find it interferes too much with my main sets. I did do dips for the longest time but they dont work for me as I dont get a dcarryover to the bench press. But I should find a way to get some pullups in...
