thefooloftheyear
When I go to weights of 275, which is not a heavy squat, my upper back feels crunched. 275 feels like 500. My senior year in HS, 3 years ago, I could do 275 for 10 easy. Now it's hard to do it once and I'm about to force myself to do reps with it and beyond because I'm sick of being stuck at that number Dont do that....or you will injure yourself....A bad back is going to end any hopes you have... Im of the opinion that you cannot really achieve the type of power and core strength without a good squat...Whatever it is, fix it and try again..Perhaps the way to approach it is to just go light and work hard on good form and building a good base...Then inch up on the poundages as you get comfortable.. At the end of the day, though, if there is truly something mechanically "wrong" you need to be careful...Many people have sustained injury trying to push it too hard.. dichotomy
Some pro's make the case the trap bar deadlift is superior to squats and deads, and most consider it an ideal substitute for both.... for those with back issues. Dont mess with your back problems...life long issues can result.
