I'm terrified to start dating and approach women

Recommended Posts

Ever since my most recent break up, I have been absolutely terrified of approaching and interacting with women that I am attracted to. It is not my looks as I am a naturally good looking guy. I just am afraid to get hurt again and I am afraid of rejection. I feel I will fall in some department and that I will not be good enough for her. Does anyone else feel this way?

I'm in the same boat.

The months leading up to my most recent relationship I felt like a Prince Charming, going on one or 2 dates per week and loving life. When I met her I dropped the whole charade and we went steady for 8 months in a very involved relationship.

Now that's over. And all the confidence I once had last Autumn just isn't there anymore. But I need to believe that it will return. And the only way that can happen is by continuing to move forward, even if by small steps.

Allow yourself the chance to grieve your loss. Try, as hard as it might feel, to move your life forward. Re-invest in yourself, your passions, hobbies, interests and goals. Start breaking up the monotony a bit where you can.

There's no rush to get into another relationship. Focus on yourself and your needs. The self-confidence will return.

I think it will come back for both of you, maybe you just aren't ready yet.

My self esteem went down a bit after my breakup too, I think rejection just does that to us. It's natural. That is why I feel working on myself inside and out is helping me feel better. In the past I have moved into relationships rather quickly but this time I am purposely taking a nice break.

Be patient with yourself. Focus on yourself right now and get to the point where someone's opinion doesn't have an affect on your own self esteem.

Rejection sucks, but it's just honesty. They don't see themselves with you and rather than wasting your time they let you know clearly so you can move on and approach someone else.
