NYC-BigKat Posted June 19, 2014 Share Posted June 19, 2014 I really really need to u know. I started orientation yesterday and it was fun but kinda really long but we got paid so that's okay . So then um...I saw a really pretty girl around my age & I kept looking at her a lot but she was just looking around never at me so I didn't know what to do. I thought that maybe she didn't like me 'cause most girls just don't these days . When it was all over she suddenly gets up with me & walks with me to the elevator & she's close to me & walking at my pace the whole time but she doesn't do anything & I don't know why. She made feel so so confused u know. Then I did my first day of training at the job & I felt like I wanted to quit in 3 hrs it was that hard! They ran me around. The mgr made fun of me but the girls say its 'cause he likes me & that's how he shows it but it made me feel bad & confused. Then I was on these conference calls & it was so so hard I got so scared my arms was shaking holding the phone & I kept saying uh...uh & I couldn't finish anything & felt really really lame . But the mgr & girls working there still said I was fine for my 1st try. I still feel like a weakling & have almost no confidence at all & it started with that girl & I usually go for it with girls but now I'm not doing anything but standing there & the new job is scaring me & tomorrow is gonna be my 2nd day! I don't know how to get tougher 'cause I really really need to. My mom is getting sick of me now. Link to post Share on other sites

Don't look, don't think, don't wonder if they're trying to confuse you. You HAVE to keep on track with work, and nothing but work, for now!! Got it? I don't want to be hard on you. Focus on learning the job, or you'll be back out looking for another. Good luck, hang in there. It actually sounds like the job is going as good as can be; it's only been a day. learning_slowly Posted June 19, 2014 Share Posted June 19, 2014 Also, compare yourself to somebody who has been living on the streets and gets the opportunity. Would they be worried about girls? Would they be worried they were not perfect? You need to try to be the best at your job. Whatever you are lacking e.g. confidence in speaking, practice at home on your own or try to get on a toastmasters course ASAP. The only thing you can change is you, so change that. Just take a deep breath and tell yourself that you can do it. Every day will get easier as you learn the ropes. And don't worry about girls at work. It was better than yesterday I guess 'cause it wasn't so busy but I know this wont last 'cause the mgr says it gets really really busy in July. Um...the girl was there but she works in a different group & she looked at me a couple times for some reason I don't know but I didn't focus on her just the job.
