Temp opted out of school, trying to find ground

I'll make it short and sweet.

I've been going for my Bachelors of Arts in visual effects since early 2010. I screwed up this spring and ended up with a $5k bill I have to pay before I can go back and finish (I only have 6 stinkin' classes left) but since I have no inconceivable way of paying that any time soon, I'm kinda running around like a rat in a lions den. I feel like a total failure, so I'm snatching up basically any opportunity to learn something and get a trade in the meantime until I garner enough money to finish my BA, a "middle ground" of sorts, because I really am not going to get there with a minimum wage job. I've already acquired security positions and education to be a personal trainer (this isn't as random as it seems, I've always found a great interest in fitness). I'm just freaked because something I've worked for nearly four years on it but its void until I have the money. What am I doing that is reckless or stupid?

Somehow you need to find a way. Can you get a short term loan from your parents or other relatives.

I was watching a financial show the other day (if I remembered which one I'd tell you).

It said that college is a good investment because even after repaying the student loans college grads earn $1M more than their high school counterparts. However, if you start college, run up loans & don't finish that is the road to financial problems.

I would if I haven't exhausted all of my options, actually.

I hear you. I owe the school $1200 on top of my student loans and I need to pay that remainder before I can even receive my degree even though I graduated 9 months ago. It's depressing that we couldn't pay much on it because we were going through financial hardship only a few months after I graduated.

It's a bad feeling. Especially if you already graduated. What about assets you could relinquish? Like cars, jewelry etc or anything of value? If you're holding a job, and keep to strict financial spending, can't you come up with $1200 easy?

We only have 1 car and I work full time (covering for a coworker on maternity leave), Pink may be starting a 2nd temp job soon so we can pay down on what she owes the school before we have to start paying her student loans.

No, because until very recently my husband was only working 10-15 hours a week and I am also only working part time. And thus we could only make limited payments this entire time as we were barely making it each month just paying for basic living expenses. Now that we're both working more we can pay more.
