ThursdayChild
Hi everyone. I received the following email from my sister in law and my response is below. I am now reflecting and wondering if I should have written this, or just said thank you. Could I have come across as rude or passive aggressive or is this fine? Thanks everyone. Hi there I heard that you won a volunteer award and I just wanted to say congratulations ******************************************************** Thanks, How sweet of you It wasn't an award. It was a school event where all the students sang songs and said all sorts of adorable things to their parents who sat with tears in their eyes like I did. The purpose of this was to acknowledge all of the parent volunteers who helped out at the school in the past year, and every parent received a carnation as a thank you from their child. Being acknowledged like this is so rewarding, it makes me wonder if winning an award would be nothing in comparison. These are the joys of being a Mom. Thanks so much. I do sense a bit of passive/agressiveness but that is just me.
AnneT1985
I agree. You sound a bit passive aggressive and defensive about a nice compliment in my opinion. I'd have just said thanks a lot and moved on
Tayla
To be fair, I think you are just enthused about such an honor and wished to share a wee bit of detail towards its history. yes a simple thank you would have sufficed, yet maybe your personality is to add a bit of history. Congrats Btw.
