Hi everyone

I'm planning to join a pilates class (3 times a week) and a zumba class (once a week), because lately I sometimes feel quite tired and so am not really motivated to do anything. I was told that exercising will give you more energy and less fatigue. Besides I also want to lose some fat on my tummy, and have my butt more toned and defined.

The only thing I am wondering is that, does pilates make my breasts shrink? I'm one of those lucky girls with quite large breasts (I have a size 10E, aussie standard) and also sort of petite (117lbs and 5"3). I am quite happy with my figure and just really want to target on my tummy and maybe my bottom. Is that possible

Any comments/opinion are very much appreciated.

Thanks :) Bubsey

Yes, the more you do pilates, the more you look like Joseph (Pilates). Be careful! :p

Pilates is very good for the core. If you start losing fat from exercise you may lose some of it from your breasts, including other areas that you carry extra weight.

Thank you

I have also asked a few friends of mine, and one said that you cannot quite reach to that state of losing that much fat unless you exercise for at least 2 hours every day. Is that true?

Losing weight must be combined with changing your diet (types of food you consume). If you are eating unhealthy junk such as cheeseburgers, fried chicken, white rice, white bread, etc., all the exercising in the world will not making lose weight. Well if you were to burn more calories then you take in, then yes, but that is a lot of working out. Eat more vegetables, more high fiber foods, low saturated fat foods, eat more legumes, more beans, and fruits as well. Stop eating beef and white carbs (white bread, white rice, cooking with white flour).

You cannot control where you will lose fat. Doing ab exercises will not remove fat from the abs, but it will strengthen the muscles.

I'm simply not a pilates fan. I could see it fitting into a larger exercise plan, maybe 1 day per week. Lifting weights will be better in my opinion. For a great butt you should do exercises like lunges, squats, and deadlifts. Why not tone up the other parts of your body while you're at it? A little muscle definition in the arms looks sexy too.

Zumba is mostly going to burn calories and improve your cardio. You can consider it a replacement for jogging, cycling, ellipticals. Although to me, jogging seems to lead to attractive legs and butts so I'd encourage working up to 3-5 mile runs a couple times per week.

Are you wanting to lose fat in general? Your breasts could shrink a little, but it sounds like your body is going to lose it from other areas more quickly.

I want to lose some belly fat mostly. I used to be quite chubby when I was in high school and fortunately I have lost a fair bit of weight once uni started. Now I am quite happy with my weight, but the only problem is the belly fat somehow doesnt go. I didnt lose weight by excercising or dieting, it just somehow happened when I started living by myself.

I was thinking about doing squats and all that. But the thing is I really dont know anything about gymming and I cant quite afford a personal trainer. At the gym where I want to join they hold different classes and I thought being a part of a class will motivate me and keep me coming back instead of giving up after two weeks or so.

Why arent you a big fan of pilates? I have some friends who said that jogging makes your legs a lot bigger. Is that true?

Thank you

tummy weight is diet - -last area for men to come off

2nd to last for women

No you do not need 2 hours (myth)

spike your heart rate - -fast - -then let it drop

do you dance -quick steps - then catch your self

then BAM! - hit it again

no 2 hours needed

keep me posted girl - -hope you get what you are looking for

Hey Thruster

Thank you :) So I have started going to the gym about more than week ago, and my schedule is Spin class Mondays, Hardcore Tuesdays, Zumba Wednesday and Pilates Fridays.

The first two times were hard because I felt the pain everywhere, especially after pilates. But now I am getting used to it so I actually really enjoy going to the gym and work out there. Time really flies when im exercising.

Today I have also started doing the 30 day squat challenge, because apparently it helps tone and lift my butt. Hopefully i will get some results out of it :">

The greatest thing about exercising is that I feel less tired/sleepy during the day now. i just feel a bit more motivated to do other things, especially uni work. So I guess my first foal has been achieved and I'm just gonna keep doing it. I just find it very hard to diet. So i'm just wondering, without dieting will i get any results?

Thanks :) Bubsey

Change up what you eat and how its consumed. Most folks cringe when they think diet. learn that your body re-acts to every nutrient or non nutrient you feed it.

I refuse to beleive that keeping unhealthy foods running around your system while doing jumping jacks are going to give you that toned physique. Try to be realistic and garner more protein as it helps build muscle (provided you are doing variations in workouts).

Keep a journal to set some goals. My first week I lowered my sugar intake and replaced it with fruits/nuts. The second week I chose to consume more water, to flush out my system. Its those little changes that made the difference.

Keep up the courses and involvement in staying active! Good does come about :)
