I hate going to bed full..some people have speedy metabolisms eat food at 4 in the morning and are good to go the next day. However i hate eating in the middle of thr night and will go to bed slightly peckish. If I'm full at night i feel like i have a baby in my stomach ..is going to bed slightly hungry at night good or bad for you?

No. It's not. Neither is intermittent fasting (assuming you don't have a condition which requires strict blood sugar levels).

Many times when you feel hungry you are actually dehydrated. Try drinking more water throughout the day & before bed.

I hate eating late at night. I can't sleep with food in my stomach. I'd rather be starving when I wake up and have a big omelette.

It's not a good idea to eat and then go to bed because your body should be just resting and repairing while you sleep.

Don't make it be digesting too. It will take from your rest.

I also hate going to bed full as well. It's easier to go to bed hungry, but if I am too hungry, I will grab something quick and light just to tide me over until morning.

Five timed Light meals a day seems to take the edge off hunger pangs. Moderating fluid intake too. Sometimes too much fluids is not good for the body or kidneys.

I enjoy a snack about an hour before bed. Takes the edge off. A snack can be some sunflower seeds and grapes or any other light food. Try not to consume things that the digestion takes hours to process....soluable fibers ...or carbs.

Listen to your body. there are reasons for having hunger pangs.

I only eat near bed time if 1) I haven't eaten enough for the day and 2) I'm noticeably hungry.

If I've eaten enough already for the day and I'm hungry near bedtime? Well, I'm screwed lol. I just suck it up and will drink some water. It is so easy to blow your daily allowance of food if you snack so late.

Studies have shown that it doesn't really matter either way, it's the general nutrition and calorie intake that matters.

Just do whatever you feel comfortable with. I sleep best on a light snack, but different people are different.

And drinking more water before bed is not a great idea unless you really want to wake up in the middle of the night with a full bladder. I'm a water person - I habitually drink at least my requisite 3L each day, if not more. I'm trying to train myself to drink a little less before bedtime.

I can't sleep when I am even slightly hungry. A full meal before bed and I sleep like a baby :) I just make sure it's within my daily calorie allowance.

Don't eat a heavy meal before bed. Try having a small bowl of fruit, a banana a yoghurt, or a few pieces of cheese.

Going to bed really hungry isn't good, you can wake up with really low blood sugar and not feel well.

im hungry almost all the time because I bodybuild. I eat when I want. its happened I woke up and ate in the middle of the night. if im hungry before bed I absolutely do eat a meal. I try to never let it happen to go to sleep when im hungry, but sometimes im just so tired and have no energy to prep it and just drop in bed. I do wake up later sometimes and make my amazingly yummy but boring oatmeal/maple syrup/protein powder mix.

funny how most people talk like they know about nutrition but their diet is crap and dont even work out.

I don't think it's a good idea to feel that full in general, if you're eating enough that you feel like you have a baby in your stomach you ate too much or you're eating something that's making you feel bloated. In which if you're laying down, you're not exactly moving your body around and getting those gasses through you, you just lay there like a balloon.

You might not feel hungry come morning, but if you skip breakfast or stuff yourself with breakfast even when you're not hungry, that'll affect your lunch, and then dinner...if you skip breakfast you'll end up pretty hungry at lunch and might find yourself being stuffed again by eating too much.

So your eating habits can throw off your whole day, if you're eating so late at night too, when is your lunch?. Not to mention you can take in things through your food that'll make sleeping all that less pleasant and enticing of an idea, especially if it's something that has caffeine or makes you gassy, then you end up staying up later because you feel uncomfortable.

So take a look at your diet and when you're eating, I don't think there's much wrong with eating late as long as it's something small and you know isn't going to affect your sleep. But eating in the middle of the night and at 4 in the morning is definitely throwing up some red flags if it's on a regular basis.

Try to eat something small that'll quench your hunger if it's late at night (not snacking) and always stay hydrated...I notice most people don't drink enough water throughout the day and instead coffee or soft drinks, not a good idea.

If you're going to sleep slightly hungry, just power through it and eat something in the morning. But if you're really that hungry and need food don't stress yourself out over trying not to eat, eat something just don't go crazy.
