switchfootprincess Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Hello everyone this is my first post so please be nice. I just really need some advice I hope someone can help me. I guess i'll start. I'm what you call a country girl, I live on a ranch with my family. okay so my problem is recently when I visited the city to see my older sister, I met these guys there and they all seemed really nice. but I heard one of the guys say mean things about me behind my back, he was talking to his friends about how country girls are ugly, dirty and uneducated and stuff like that. it's not true at all. okay I don't wear makeup that much cause I work on the farm a lot but I still look nice without it. I'm not uneducated. I'm very smart and I do clean myself. The worst part of the whole thing is when my sister asked me if I was seeing any cute guys, and she like hinted at one of the guys in the other room. she was pressuring me about my dating life and I told her I'm still a virgin and saving it for marriage (I'm 23). One of the guys overheard me and my sister talking and now they think I'm a freak This is been a huge blow to my self esteem and I feel like I should be ashamed for who I am. I may not be that city girl who goes to nightclubs and looks like a Victoria secret model but I'm a nice person! I have a good heart. What do guys think of country girls? do you think we're all dirty uneducated virgin freaks?
somedude81 Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 As long as look clean and smell nice, I don't give a damn where you are from. The waiting for marriage thing though is something I would have a problem with. 1
preraph Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 There are a bunch of bigots who think all country people or southern people are stupid. Those people are the ones who are stupid. I used to get that from NY'ers I had to work with and it really pissed me off. They were snobby idiots and they had no reason to think so highly of themselves. What floored me is they assumed that everyone not from NY looked upon NY'ers as superior to them and thought their accents were neutral. Wow. Anyway, anyone who wants to put you down no matter why is not anyone you should aspire to get to know. That makes sense, doesn't it? Please tell me you're not one of these who thinks they have to convince people to tolerate them. Because that is so unhealthy. I grew up on horseback and ended up a music label rep (not anymore) mixing with people from all over the world. Respect yourself and most people except the ones you should have no use for will respect you.
ebor Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Not really, It's a personal preference to people between country and city but the stereotypes also include positive things like honest, family oriented, hard working, down to earth.... And about Virginity while it's not popular culture many of us still choose it but you don't hear them proclaiming it on forums much. One thing I hate about country girls is they are so good at doing things with their hands they make me feel feminine but that's my insecurity and not your problem.
carhill Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 OP, closest civilization to me is about 20 miles away and there's a square mile of almonds across the street and I've been living this way for about 30 years and most of the country girls I know have been married since they were quite young, younger than your age. Out here, they get married young, dad builds another house on the ranch and the family gets larger. Sure, they get dusty driving tractor or sloppin' the hogs or cleaning out horse stalls, but that's normal. We do have running water and showers, though my exW would get quite annoyed when the well hiccuped. Don't pay those city boys any mind. They've lived the 7-11 airbag life so they don't know what real livin' is, shootin' your own varmints, slaughtering your own meat, growing your own crops. It's a different life. I was just in the city today looking at a plumbing job and my blood pressure dropped palpably once hitting the end of the freeway and getting on the two-lane headin' home. Nice place to visit, the city is. One can make some pretty good coin there. The rest of it, well it can stay there, guys/gals included. Different strokes. 1
Diezel Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I think country girls are hot when they know how to be feminine. Same as with any other girls. Waiting til marriage, I respect it, I wouldn't date you if that was the case though. But I wouldn't make fun of you either.
Imported Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I love country girls! But when I think "country girl", I am imagining dasiy-duke cut off jeans with nicely tanned legs, nice set of ta-ta's well displayed with some kinda small shirt knotted at the front, hair tied in two pig-tails under a cowgirl hat and super sexy cowgirl boots. I worte this off the top of my head. Then I googled "country girl". Go ahead and google "country girl" and look at images.
Author switchfootprincess Posted July 17, 2014 Author Posted July 17, 2014 wow a lot of people here are from California lol Thank you guys for all your comments I really appreciate it
Allumere Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Those young men were ignorant and disrespectful...seriously. But I guess we all have at one time or another been stupid enough to get sucked into stereotype assumptions. There isn't a good verses bad here, only preference and that is usually groomed through experience. I enjoy the city and at times would love to spend a few months at a time living in one but I love the country as well since that is where I was raised and currently have horses. Yes, I can do most of the farm stuff although I was not raised on the farm. I am self-sufficient...this mornings unexpected event was my F350 truck tire blowing out. So I do what any country girl would do...pull out the hydraulic jack and change it Do not feel bad with who you are or where you are from. Now, if your sister or someone suggest dolling it up a bit, that is fine. Sometimes we do get so comfortable that we don't make room for changes or improvements. So what you are a virgin. Is it more difficult to date? Yes I would assume it is. Are guys going to be turned off by that? Yes some are and that is OK too as that is their choice and their deal breaker. If that is valuable to you and for many who make that choice it is the direct result of their faith, do not compromise. There are handsome smart kind men from the country and the city that would not care, maybe share the same values, and will adore you as you are. Stop worrying, you are fine!
Ian Fleming Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 I love them, not city girls that listen to country much and pretend to be country girls but actual country girls. 1
Keenly Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 I have a personal disdain for all things country, both male and female. I dislike southern accents (because they are usually drawn out and fake, at least here in california) I hate everything cowboy, and horses scare the hell out of me. The general activities of what a "country" person would do, as well as the music genre, are also not my thing. But the good news for you is that I am extremely different than most guys and pretty much on an island by myself, metaphorically speaking. 1
amaysngrace Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Country people seem slow compared to people who live where life actually happens. Doesn't matter if you're male or female. Isolation hinders socialization.
rocketman122 Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 I dont care, city, country. if shes a tomboy, no thank you. other than that its fine by me. I do prefer more feminine women though. the ones who do their hair, nails, makeup, heels lingerie and such. it doesnt need to be a 24/7 thing though. if she dresses up for outings its fine by me. I think country girls have one up on city girls is that they are more down to earth and less high maintenance/spoiled compared to city girls who think they are princesses. city vs country brings up an image in my head of mary (cletus & brandine are her parents) from the simpsons vs sex and the city girls.
lisacolnett Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 you are a nice person with a good heart. As long as you look clean and smell good, no one should have a problem in dating country girls. Country are girls are more down to earth than city girls and I think that's an added advantage.
SmartDude Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 My mama raised me with the music of John Denver. I will take a country girl over a sophisticated city girl any day! CIty girls are all about getting that overpriced condo, having the right health insurance plan and working their way up the corporate ladder. No thanks!
amaysngrace Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 CIty girls are all about getting that overpriced condo, having the right health insurance plan and working their way up the corporate ladder. Country people are overweight, unhealthy and die young. They don't care about healthcare because they don't even have doctors. Good ones, anyway. That's why they all smoke and die young.
Noproblem Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 (edited) Country girl shake it for me, shake it for me. I am sorry but I couldn't help myself. Hey, you met bad guys and this is typical for new comers, they see a new person who acts really nice and welcoming then turn out to be really mean and stupid! There is nothing wrong with you, don't let that defines, what you are is not about country side or the upper city. It's about how you behave and how you feel. Go date, I am sure you will see a decent amount of Guys who will like you regards of any other consideration! One last note: don't let your nice nature turn into nativity, bad people will use that against you! Edited July 18, 2014 by Noproblem
