Kid_Charlemange
I'm hoping this thread will give people a better idea of where to look. Feel free to post for past relationships/marriages as well. First wife: In college, friend of a friend. I was walking past the college pub and she was there with her roommate, both were a little tipsy; "Hey, I know you, you're [xxxx]'s friend!" We started talking and that was that got married seven years later. Second wife: eHarmony Third LTR: Friend of friends. I'd known her for a couple of years, though not well. We both were at a small party at mutual friend's house, had a little too much to drink and wound up making out. We were together for a little under two years. Current LTR candidate: OKCupid

dreamingoftigers
Is he still homeless ? No, but he's about to be again if he doesn't call me soon. Just kidding. He's out of town on working tonight and we are missing him terribly. But I also know that he's 110% exhausted and doing very long days. But we miss him here. He should be home tomorrow. I complain about him a lot on here, but his presence is really calming (when we aren't scrapping) and I like his hugs. His voice is great too. I kind of regret not driving down to see him today

dreamingoftigers
These post make me realize why all my date on old were a fail. I need to go back on real life dating and stop wasting my time on dating site Something I have believed since I started dating. I met one boyfriend online, the rest were in my day-to-day life. Often, the online stuff just doesn't translate into reality. People just dismiss it. I mean really, how much of an impression can a profile on a website make? Certainly not as much as a first impression of a real human being. Profiles can give you an idea about what you might like about a person. We all have our shopping lists. But when we get to the actual store, we might not like the product at all and figure we've been duped.

LuckyLady13
I think this is a great thread for single people to read to get a good grasp on how this really works. I met him through a friend. 15 years before we got together! The night my friend introduced me to him, my first words to him were "I could swear I saw you on TV today! You're not a pot smoking priest, are you?" He was a dead ringer for this guy. I was in a relationship at the time so we had a little friendly chat and over the years I'd bump into him when our mutual friend was around so we got to know each other a bit through the years. The relationship I was in ended and by this point I had this guys number so I called him to shoot the breeze and say hello. Turned out he was single at the time too. We got together so quick at that point. I never thought the day we met we'd end up together years later.

My last ex I met her through carpooling . I was the driver. Everything was so easy .
dudemeister
Met my ex on an online dating site. The relationship lasted a little over a year and even though we have been broken up over 3 months now I would do it all over in a heartbeat. Yes, online dating sucks. It took me 5 months of constant rejection to find someone that was right for me but the relationship was worth it. Of course nothing beats meeting someone in real life but online dating does work.
Kid_Charlemange
Hot tub on a cruise ship. Now this sounds like an interesting story... I've only been on one cruise, but it seemed like mostly families and couples. Not a lot of singles. Was it a "singles" cruise, which I've read about, or just good luck? Inquiring minds want to know! Kid_Charlemange
We all have our shopping lists. But when we get to the actual store, we might not like the product at all and figure we've been duped. Certainly. And if there's no spark, then the first meeting goes south pretty quickly, or there's no second one. Not a lot invested. I guess I see it this way: If I meet someone online, and do the "shopping list" thing, then I see if there is in-person chemistry or not. Often, there isn't. No harm no foul. But if I meet some IRL, and there is chemistry, it's sometimes disappointing to find out, much later, that there are deal-killers involved. I feel, in those cases, that I've invested more than I would have online. Of course, I'm not particularly adept at IRL meetings. Awkward, a little shy, and my looks are often a barrier. So I'm biased.

D.Mc.
To sum up: the more social you are the more likely you will meet someone to date & the more dates you have the more likely one will turn into a relationship. I spent my 20's & 30's either just going out to a movie/dinner w/my girlfriends or dating the SO I had or neither...no increase in my social group so now I have no options but OLD/Meetup...
