Is the compliment " you are too sweet" a good thing?

I know this is a stupid question, but many men have told me I am sweet and this worries me some. Because makes me think men do not want a sweet girl...they want a girl that is kind of tough and stands her ground. Then it makes me think that maybe they arent into me, and are going to try to take advantage of me or think of me as " their sweet friend" but not good enough to date. I dont know why, just when i am referred to as sweet makes me think that in their eyes i am not hot.

Thoughts?

Sweet sounds to me like being a pushover.

Tell them to go F themselves. That should fix it.

It could be a compliment. I could also be a directive for you to toughen up. It depends on the context.

In the most positive way it's akin to "you shouldn't have."

It depends on the context in which you are hearing that. If it's because you've been thoughtful, helpful...or are just generally thoughtful and helpful...then there ought not be any concerns.

But if it's when you were trying to be something else...sexy or smart or whatever...then "you're sweet" is more, er, like the feeling one would have towards a toddler or even a cherished pet...as in "how cute"...then that's not a good thing (obviously.)

Not enough info to offer an informed opinion...but my gut is saying...and again it needs more context...but my gut is saying...however you expressed it, it could have come across as "I miss my mommy" (or brother or cousin)...more in a not-sufficiently-adult way...is my gut's sense.

But...I could be totally off-base and wrong.
