People tend to forget that first bit or perhaps never studied history or anthropology.

Looking good as you age is seldom down to luck. A few lucky people have genetics on their side but the rest of us make an effort because beauty is power in any society.

The endless arguments on here about looks are like the arguments about rich people. Sure some inherited wealth but most worked hard, made an effort. Again, lazy people can't be bothered so they whine.

I'm a person who had great genes and always looked amazing for my age although I did work out and take care of myself. I, like you apparently, also used to assume that other woman who didn't look as amazing as myself must be lazy and just not care. LOL.

Fitchick have you reached menopause yet? I ask because I am just beginning to realize that menopause can cause changes that we simply do not have control over. I'm 49 and over the last year my period stopped and suddenly I have begun to age. Even though I'm working out 5 days a week and I spend at least a couple of hours outside everyday on other physical activities, there are things happening to my face and body that I can't control and that I somehow deluded myself into thinking would never happen to me because I'm not "lazy". How arrogant I was!

I'm almost 31 and have a ten year old son. I feel and think as if I'm still in my early twenties, and do look very young. I actually feel less anxiety and stress than I did back then and am much more happy with my appearance now. Any stress or fatigue I do feel is from work. My day starts very early so on a Friday, all my aspirations for having fun after work tend to become more tame by then. Nowadays it's sushi and a bottle of wine to start the weekend. :D

Mysterio

The 30's were hard on all of us

Kids - work - (Kids)

40's much easier -- more time to get self (body - mind) back and moving

Those who believe beauty is valued only in the western world have obviously never even left their bathroom.

A coworker commented on all the people her age or slightly older who needed hip replacements. "What's wrong with our generation?" I had to bite down hard on my tongue to avoid saying, "Most people are too fat and that is hard on the joints. If they lost the weight, they wouldn't need surgery." She is always making comments about "I'm so old my joints are creaking" or "This is what happens when you get old." She is younger than I am (but doesn't know it). She also outweighs me by about 70 lbs.

Also. Do you feel funny if someone asks your age? What age do you feel you are. I feel like I am more 33/34.

Any thoughts.

I never tell people my age when they ask. I have absolutely no idea why they take it upon themselves to constantly ask. When I'm talking to someone I don't know I have no desire to know how old they are, and actually think it's pretty rude to do so, but it happens all the time.

Next time they ask, tell them you will tell them your age if they tell you how much money they make or what they weigh or how many sex partners they've had.
