rdons1 Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 I've been confused lately and feel lost. I'm 20 years old and throughout my teenage years I was always one of those "doesn't give a f*ck" kind of kids. Id say whatever I wanted, do whatever I wanted, treat people poorly and didn't really care. Recently I've noticed that although I still do some of these things I'm starting to gain more of a conscience. I will often do something then the next day sit and contemplate my actions and regret what I did. It kind of depresses me because I realize I'm an a**hole. Although I've been feeling down I think this is a good thing. Maybe I'm finally shedding my jerk tendencies and becoming a better person which is what I want.
melell Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Retrospection and self awareness? I say yep, evolving. 1
PogoStick Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 It's brain development, not evolution. If you're interested, look into Kohlberg's stages of moral development. Note, Republicans struggle to reach the higher levels of moral development which is why they tend to be egocentric and heartless. Notice their morals come from an ultimate authority figure (God). They're stuck in the conventional moral stage.
Thruster Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 hmmmmmmmmm so many ways to call it let's just say -- none of us are the same brat we used to be
melodicintention Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Not evolving. You are Maturing. Not everyone does it, but a few of us have made it from one side to the other. The greatest thing you can develop within is the ability to Gnothi seauto If you can master this, you will master your life.
