ananimal79 Posted August 22, 2014 Share Posted August 22, 2014 I have 2 children ages 16 Daughter & 13 son my ex and i have been separated for 12 years he did not see our children for 6 years after he left He chose drugs and alcohol over his family . I never spoke bad about him around my children even though he doesn't pay support i didn't want them to form opinions about him based on my feelings at the age of 8 my son asked to have contact with him and began talking to him meeting him and have visits my daughter was a little hesitant to have him around her she remembered the bad time we had and that he left us in time she came around to having him back in her life and she became very close to him again (when she was younger her and her father were inseparable) over the past few years he falls off the wagon and starts using and drinking again and tends to disappear he knows my feelings if you cant be clean do not come around our children . About a year and half ago he started to treat my son very poorly calling ad not showing up missing his birthday and the topper was when my son caught him in a lie and over time my son decided he didnt wish to speak to his father any longer i am ok with his decision, My daughter didnt understand his choice and had been trying to convince him to give him another chance. about 2 years ago i started dating a man and at first it wasnt serious but over time we formed a wonderful loving relationship he had no children of his own and always treats my kids like they are his own he meets our needs and we meet his (he referrers to us as the missing link he had in his life) my daughter fell sick in the spring and was hospitalized for a few days her father being on one of his binges never showed up for her she realized she wanted to stop talking to him also and saw where my son was coming from ..... the past few month there has been no contact they have him blocked from social media and on their phones , my current boyfriend has stepped in big time my sons birthday is this weekend my boyfriend wants to take us away just head down to the beach and enjoy the weekend and said he had a few activity's planned for us. last nite he asked me if it was ok to speak to my children in private when they came out all 3of them had tears in there eyes he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him before i answered him i asked my kids why they had crying and my sons response melted my heart my father never once in my life has said i love you and now as long as you say yes i can change that i know my new dad loves me he told said it and he is proud to have us as his own ........as my daughter shook her head agreeing with him i said yes our lives are forever changed we got married today at town hall and will be celebrating my sons birthday as a family this weekend this has got to be by far the best day of our lives 1 Link to post Share on other sites
