YAY!!! I'm on day 2 of not smoking!! Quitting Cold Turkey!!!!!!

Not having as hard a time as yesterday but I am expecting it to get worse before it gets better. Was so angry and upset last night I cried for almost 2 hours straight. Then I felt much better.

yea for you!! :D

But, expect it to get worse! Be prepared for a craving and have a plan of action ready for what you will do to curb it..i.e, a piece of gum, a jog....

otherwise it is tooo easy to get pissed, and on a whim.... get a smoke!

Much luck!

Congratulations for making this decision and starting it.

My dad smoked three packs a day. Then, one evening "60 Minutes" aired a segment about throat, tongue and mouth cancers and how they were related to tobacco. He stopped smoking then and there. He kept one pack in the drawer by the phone. Mom asked if she should throw them out. He said that if he wanted one, by the time he went for it, it would be stale and he wouldn't enjoy it anyway. He never touched them.

I can only imagine how hard it was for him to quit, but I am proud of him for doing it. (And I don't say that I'm proud of him often, unfortunately.)

Good luck and if this strategy doesn't work, try another and another until you find one that does.

Congratulations!

I quit in January after many years. And today, while walking the dog, I thought "by this point I'd be huffing & puffing", and I wasn't!

Once you get past 2 or 3 days the addiction is all in your mind - everytime I feel like I want a cigarette I just say to myself, "don't be stupid, you're a non-smoker now".

I hate to say this - but I have put on some weight - apparently that is inevitable - but I'm on that rowing machine 20 minutes a day now!

Good Luck !

Congratulations, quitters! I know it's rough but it'll be worth it. Unfortunately, neither of my parents quit until they were hospitalized for illnesses but even they were better off for having quit.

great to hear about that,

i use to smoke stopped it you really feel fresh and your food would taste better, you will gain mass. i am gaining good quality muscle mass 1kg per week thats really good.

drink more water as much as you can while you are on this mission.

for motivation use this:

whenever you feel like smoking imagine that you only have one fag and that cigg's butt is put in a a** of your enemy when he is sh*ting. i am sure you wont put that in your mouth. :D

Thanks for all of the support. Today is now day three and so far I am very very sick. Feel like throwing up, have a really bad headache and feel dizzy. I think it is because all of the nicotine is finally leaving my body today for good and I'm prolly going through what any addict goes through when they come off a drug it sucks!!! I never want to go through this again!!!

Good job! Just remember, if you get through this nasty withdrawl now, you will never have to do it again. It is inevitable that if you start up smoking again, you will want to quit again in the future. Just give it up once and for all! :D
