carhill
I'm gonna start, you guys add your own! Recurring feelings of thanks to those who role modeled me to 'do no harm' would probably be my most obvious takeaway. Otherwise, there'd be another unabomber around. That said, no adult woman, and I've enjoyed quite a variety, has approached the level of emotional (and physical) abuse suffered as a young person at the hands of others. Comparatively, they've seemed, to me anyway, to be quite 'nice' and at worst, neutral, even if/when others have opined differently. I'd say, overall, the long term effects have been a more marked disconnection from the humanity of people; disconnection from them mattering. Sure, I can feel such mattering in a moment, or two or five, but overall it's pretty much a zero. I figure, on balance, at least they mattered for awhile; a quite long while, actually. That's how life goes sometimes.
