Unless you have an extremely generous at-will employment clause, that's blatantly illegal. You could sue for wrongful termination. If you have adequate documentation you'd almost certainly win, too. I think the boss is counting on your being too embarrassed to do such a thing, or maybe he's convinced there's no a solid paper trail. I don't know. She mentioned a few times about losing her job before the affair, she knew it could happen and she processed anyway. Its all part of being an adult, dealing with the mess you make.
