If you get into the business of rumors in any fashion you are destined to be miserable all your days. You need to learn this now...she'll learn it in time. When she grows up and matures, she will learn that gossip and rumors are seriously destructive and she will ignore them. I guess for now this is just part of the learning process. Frankly, I think it's futile to try to find the person who started any particular rumor. It is virtually impossible to determine their origin with certainty.
