Romantic Getaway for 4?? WTF

As you all know the past year has been hell in terms of my hubby's illness and heart attack, and me having me work one full time job and two part time jobs to keep afloat as he was not able to work at all for one year.

Things are better now. I am back to one job and hubby is working part time.

So back in January I plan this romantic getaway for the two of us. I rented the Executive Suite at a fancy hotel with the jacuzzi suite in our room.

Well this past weekend was our getaway or so I thought. We got to the hotel, they did not have our jacuzzi suite, I started crying - I was so hurt. Luckily they had one suite that was not booked. I was happy.

So we are in our hotel room in the jacuzzi having a great time. Then we decide to go out for supper and as we are getting ready to leave, there comes a knock on the door.

I opened up the door and it is hubbys deadbeat brother Mike and his girlfriend who they fight constantly and get this, they have luggage. I am thinking WTF. So before I react and throw them out or call security - tee hee hee, I stay calm.

They are checking out our room and I can tell they are envious - they want a piece of it. Then his brother checks out the couch in the livingroom and says hey hey it is a roll out bed. I said yeah so what. Then I tell them that it is an Executive Suite for 2 and I emphasize the NUMBER 2.

So we go about our way to go for supper and guess who comes along. So we order our meal and they order the same thing. How lovely!!! The waitress asks if we want the bill all together and I said no seperate bills please. So we leave.

They follow us back to the hotel and come in behind us. So in the hotel we sit in the courtyard and they are asking us what are we going to do. I say go back to our hotel room and they say OH!~~

Then Mike asks me what is the price of a hotel room and I say ours is $ 159.99, yo will have to ask for the prices. He said that is a lot of money just to stay over night.

We don't say a word. But we get up to motion back to our room.

Mike decides to rent a room, girlfriend snarls at me, I smile back. Then we go to check out their room. It is a single bed with a tv and they paid $ 100. One could tell that they were mad. Ha ha they will get over it.

Several times Mike says that is lots of money just to sleep somewhere, and I say either that or go home or sleep in the parking lot in your car.

So we go back to our room and relax and have a great ole time. In the morning we get up and go for brunch. Guess who is checking out. Yup. Loser and loserette.

We proceed to go to the restaurant and they tell us to come with them and go to the donut shop for coffee. I say no we are going for brunch together. So off to brunch we go and they leave. They must think I am a real bitch.

Sorry but I was looking forward to our getaway for months.

Was I wrong to treat them like I did???? I don't think so. They both make good money and could go out and wine and dine like that every weekend if they wanted to. But this was a once in a long time outing for us.

One thing that I have learned from this all, is not to ever tell anyone especially them what our plans are.

Your thoughts please??

Did these people "just show up"? If my brother and his wife showed up at my hotel suite door when I was away on a romantic weekend, I'd laugh at him and tell him to get lost. This is sort of creepy.

Girl......you were waaaaay more polite than I would EVER be!

Good for you! You handled that like a champ!

You did'nt get into a fight with your hubby over what his brother did.

You did'nt give in to them (brother and g/friend)

You enjoyed YOUR week-end and did what the two of you wanted to do.

You are AMAZING!!!

Yes, they just showed up on the doorstep with luggage.

I was so pissed.

And hubby completely understood that this weekend was OUR weekend together.

There comes a time for family but this weekend, it was for us not his family.

And yes, it was very creepy.

Knowing that we were in room 234 and they were in 203 was weird.

But all in all, we had a great time.

And get this -

At the coffee shop that we both frequent he was telling people about his romantic getaway with the jacuzzi suite.

What a low life he is.

Oh well let him have some glory in lying.

But never again, will I ever tell them our plans again. EVER!!!

Was this actually a "getaway"? Was there any implicit invitation that he could have unintentionally picked up on? The whole thing sounds real creepy to me. This dude needs to get a grip. Maybe he's trying to steal his brother's identity.

Pretty much the guy is a joke.

He will try get in on anything that is free or any good time that he can have without his expense.

He is a free loader. He has already bankrupted several woman, one who is still with him. They are two of a kind.

I just have to remember that when hubby and I are discussing our plans, not to do it when he or anyone else is around. That is one thing that we have really learned from this whole time.

You should've told your husband to make them disappear. Mrs. Moose and I go to a marriage retreat once a year in Branson. We usually stay a day or two longer than the seminar and go for helicopter rides, boat trips, fishin' at the dam, anything by ourselves. We'll hang out with other couples during the day of the seminar, but after that, even relatives know the only reason they should try to contact us is if there is a medical emergency.

Your husband really should've put his foot down. To me, I would've felt as though the whole trip was waisted just because they showed up, and it's in the back of your mind they're close. That's not a get away at all!

Next time, plan it yourself, kidnapp your husband, and maybe you'll see better results.

Yes how very creepy, but that is the way that he is.

He has to take someone's glory and make it his own. :o

Some people just don't get it at all.

But I never let them get to me.
