Why do some women date felons?

Recommended Posts

In my area, maybe because there's lack of options. A lot of women here date men currently in jail or have some kind of criminal record (usually drunk and disorderly).

Is this is an example of what's considered a "Bad Boy"?

I hear these topics come up about "Badboy vs. Nice Guy" when I think "Bad Boy" I think those that have a criminal record.

Anyone got any popcorn???

I have no idea and anything greater than a speeding ticket gets onto the "no go list"... There is a difference between "bad boy" and "tosser"... Jail terms normally are a very good indicator.

Would be interested to find out.

Gangstas can be sexy because they are hard and strong and able to offer protection in tougher environments. They might even have stashed away loot.

The value of a man willing to provide while not physically being around can be quite appealing for women. They would be free to do as they please while being secure.

I'm envisioning a date where we share a snack from the vending machine in a common area with guards watching us intently to make sure there is no physical contact.

I personally don't get the appeal . Pity maybe ?

I talked to two guys once with domestic violence records... I didn't know the extent until I did my own research I thought it was just a he said she said thing. They were attractive both had kids and wanted more immediately and I wanted kids so I was like "yay!!"

@OP......It's the whole "something different" / "bad boy image" / living on the edge mentality. Definitely one of those things that makes you shake your head. No different from some women on dating sites that don't know what they want i.e. delusional

Are we talking While they are incarcerated? Or your run of the mill felon who's 'done time'? Lol* if it's WHILE they're in the slammer, you've got a man who can't cheat and is probably more apt to email/text you back.

And date night is a sure thing on visitation day, right?

...Uhhmmm no 'bad boys for me please *

If you're a woman who doesn't like physical intimacy it sounds perfect. You just have to hope he doesn't behave himself and get out early. Or else you're stuck actually having sex with him.

The same personality characteristics which impel a felon to go after what they want, unfortunately in violation of our laws and statutes, impel them to assertively pursue the women they want, and some women respond positively to that.

I seriously doubt any felon, regardless of 'type' (of crime), wears an 'I'm a felon' sticker on their forehead or has their rap sheet in their shirt pocket. More than likely they're quite pleasant and charming with women because, well, they want something and, with a lot of experience in getting what they want, usually get it too. Priorities. Build rapport and connection first, then trickle truth. It works!

Because you don't know him like she does.......apparently.

If women want to screw guys who have dubious pasts then that's their lookout. I couldn't care less as long as I don't have to hear her complaining about how she had to pick her teeth up off the floor the other night.

And in not so sure that these guys are as hard to spot as women claim. A common sight in the UK is the loud, aggressive guy who walks with a swagger and eyeballs the people around him daring them to make eye contact whilst beside him totters along his trophy wife on vertiginous heels. I can't believe for one minute that she is oblivious to the air of menace he gives off.

It's just a fact that women seem to be drawn to shady characteristics more than they are to go guys who would treat them with respect. Which, as I say, is fine- their choice. Just don't complain about it afterwards

Here's a great example of what I'm talking about, a man well into felonious pursuits long before the Enron incident put him in prison. He was on his apparently second wife when his life choices finally caught up with him and got him a 6x8 for 172. Still married.

Felons come in all flavors. We like to think of them as the classic 'tough guy' with a swagger, a gun in his belt and inciting fear in all who encounter him. Real felons are generally far from that stereotype. This isn't 'Sons of Anarchy'. Real life is far different. Felons roam amongst us everywhere and, yep, a lot of them date women, and successfully.

They're dumbasses. Those of us smart enough or lucky enough not to be caught are the real catches.

Have I mentioned my misspent youth lately?

Not cool of you to diss your competition like that.

One thing they have, that you don't, is a sympathy vote from the women. They are adorable like injured puppies.

I think there is something to be said about the "bad boy" aspect but I think it has more to do with women thinking they can somehow "save" these jail birds.

Women LOVE projects especially fixing and changing men. It's no secret.

I also think many of the women who find love in jail are women who struggle with their own self esteem and/or self worth. These men often fill a void for them while the women offer a pleasant distraction for the men.

It's a mutual beneficial arrangement.

Why do some men date female felons? When a cute woman gets her mugshot on the internet, she gets marriage proposal from men, and no one bat an eye. When the reverse happens, people get their panties in a wad. Why so much tig a when women do it?

I have dated a felon before. I dated him because he was fun. You can believe i have options. People who have been to prison or are in prison are people, too.

Carhill used the word, 'Felonious'...correctly. respect.

'Bad Boy' and Felon are two TOTALLY different things however they can be intertwined should bad boy break the law, get caught and head to 3 hots and a cot...

Pin me against the wall bad boy hot not scared of anything, Sure, Sign me UP! :bunny::o

Knock me against the wall bad boy breaking my ribs scared of the cops, Nope, I'm OUT! :bunny::eek:

A likely result of poor breeding... I don't care if women go for felons, I wouldn't associate with those women most likely and it's nothing to do with me.

I wanted tp say that many people in america are felons and are nonviolent. The us has a higher prison population of any populous country. Russia has a murder rate 5x ours last time I heard, no death penalty, and still has less prisoners. In usa its just easy to find someone who has or is locked up because we lock up so many people. Being a felon doesnt mean woman or child abuser!

Also, the woman may have already known prisoner in question before his bid. She simply stayed with him. They are alreafy bonded. If she didnt want to leave? Oh well.

Lets say he is violent. Many of them wont hit a woman. The most likely issue is that he is VERY quick to assault another man. The guy I dated would never in a million years hit a female, but would he hit a man? Yup. He was more respectful of me than many so called nice guys.

Being nice doesnt make someone attracted to an individual, whether one is male or female. No one owes you anything for being nice. A lot of 'nice' people are passive aggressive.

Tbh a lot of guys in prison are fine as heyall, face and body. Roy Slagle is a good example. Hes tall, good looking, naturally muscular, he just cant stay out of prison. :(

If one watches Lockup, one cant help but to notice a lot of handsome and buff men.

A lot of the guys on the outside are soft. Men in prison have more of a hardness to them.

Why do women do it? Because it works. They marry or date the guy, and they are perfectly happy. Sometimes they get married and are just fine. I wouldnt start a relationship with someone in prison, but some women like it so oh well. They are grown women.

That depends on the state and his behavior in prison. Some states do allow conjugal/family visits. :)

Yes, trickle truth. Thats exactly what people do all day everyday in the dating world. Most people arent going to say, "Oh yes, I have all these problems, hope ya dont mind!" when they first meet someone. Not special to felons at all.

Ditto.

Women who date men currently in jail, felons etc, women who specifically seek out imprisoned men or men with criminal histories often fall into a certain category.

I think for some women it depends on their environment. If you grow up in a place where there is a high incarceration rate then chances are you'll often end up dating men with criminal histories. However, for women who have no such affiliation but seem to seek out these men, well usually its about feeling like they can fix them, feeling special that this "dangerous" man loves them, feeling like they are an exception and get validation from that, and yes it's a two way street.

What was his crime?

In any event, everyone is different, because for me I don't date men simply because they are fun, so I don't really resonate with that as a reason to date someone.

I guess for me when I date people I think about lots of other qualities, ways in which they will fit with my lifestyle, my friends, my family, how they can add to my life, our views on life etc. So simply him being a cute, fun felon doesn't cut it. Likewise if he is a cute, fun any other thing...as I think of a bigger picture. But of course some people just date casually so maybe fun is enough...and maybe as a teen fun was all it took but at this age I don't think of dating just as about fun and cute.

Btw I am not saying that people who have been imprisoned are by default bad people or even always guilty of their crimes at all. I'm not naive. I've been a mentor in a prison education program, I know some of the realities. What I am saying is that people tend to weigh the pros and cons of dating someone and for most women who are educated, high self worth, not bad looking, a felon does not seem like a choice pick. Sure, if somehow they fall for this person it's one thing or if they were together before they become imprisoned it's one thing, but I find seeking out a felon to be atypical of most women. I think knowing the story of a particular "felon" and what he is doing now also makes a difference...

I guess the more confusing aspect is women "dating" a man still in prison whom they met while he was in prison through prison pen pal services. Or if you are dating someone who repeatedly goes to jail...then your choice becomes very questionable vs. you dating someone who has a record but has moved beyond it.

Either they are women who grew up around it or sheltered women who want to take a walk on the wild side and sometimes piss off their family.
