Told my husband I wanted a divorce

Recommended Posts

It's been a long time coming, and I wish I had done it sooner, but here I am. And I suspect it will be ugly, although I really don't want it to be. My husband owned a rental property before we met and he wanted me to sign a prenup, which I refused to do. Now we own a home together and the income from the rental property has been commingled with our household expenses. Honestly at this point, I just want to try to buy him out of the house. But I suspect he will fight even that. This is awful, just awful. I really just want to be done with this already. I feel like I've really tried to make this work, and he has just been along for the ride. I hope I can at least convince him to go o mediation, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm going to assume you're getting competent legal advice? Paraphrasing, you can't predict what your husband will do so best to prepare for what he can do...

Take him to the cleaners. Serves him right for getting married. Men whom cave in and get married just pur pressure on those of us whom have seen the light and seek to establish a family without the marriage papers, that ironically make it possible for a partner to cash out and run in the first place.

Going to assume this is satire posing as feedback...

I am more concerned about making sure that things are fair when we do divorce. He has emphasized finances since the beginning. So I know that money will be way more important than anything I feel. We've gone to therapy, and he lied throughout the entire process. He wasn't willing to work on anything. I have no interest in taking him to the cleaners. I actually just want things to be fair. Because for the time we've been married, they have not been.
