Hello,

whenever I get back home in the evening, I feel terribly sad. I think about how crap my life is. I even cry sometimes.

I am so unhappy with so many things. I can't even sleep well at night. I don't sleep before 2am.

I just got a gym membership, so that might keep me busy and tired in the evenings. But still, why is my life so messed up and rubbish? :(

Exercise is a good starting point.

And diet is important too.

If you drink, refrain for awhile since it can be a depressant.

I've always found focusing on one area at a time is most productive.

Have you ever listed out what you want to improve?

In broad categories?

My friend I know exactly how you feel.

I am down all the time and it really sucks. When I am in lectures or when I'm out with my friends I feel down. It is especially hard when I get home where I am alone and just watch TV or work on some painting. Its tough not to feel down sometimes.

If you want to cry then cry. I'm a guy who people wouldn't see as someone who would cry openly but I'll admit it I cry sometimes when I'm down and I feel lonely or am missing people or stuff like that.

Is there any reason why you feel down? Is it because someone left you or your lonely or you just don't feel completely whole?

It sucks feeling down and sometimes we just want someone to talk to. Talking to someone you feel comfortable opening up to can really help you so you might want to try that too

Everyone feels down sometimes. The trick is to not make it a habit.

Last night I felt ****e. No one has physically touched me let alone hugged me for at least 3 weeks and that really got to me. I had a tough day and I just needed someone to say "its OK, you know you can deal with it" and give me a hug.

I ended up in tears so went to my sister in law told her what I needed got a big hug and the piddle taken out of me... felt better.

If you know what you "need" to make you feel better then go and get it and do something about it. Don't leave things festering.

Think about the things that you think make your life so bad. Write them down if need be and then come up with a logical and achievable way to change them. Go back and reassess your list every now and then and make any amendments required to ensure you continue on the right path.

The other quick fix I sometimes use is to do something random that is nice for a random person. My fav at the moment is to get a bar of chocolate for the person serving me in a shop and give it to them as a thank you when I leave. 9/10 it results in a very big smile and you can see the person you have just been nice to grow an inch with happiness. It feels good and does make you feel better.

Think logic and the emotions will soon follow ;)

Make a list for yourself. What is it in your life that's making you feel miserable and sad? What can you do on your own to improve things? What can others do to help make things better?

Joining a gym is a great idea!
