DCW
I am hopelessly in love with my best friend of almost 2 years, but he is oblivious. To make matters worse, his current boyfriend is a total piece of dryer lint and a pathological liar. I know my friend will be hurt by this putz in the long run, and I also know we could be so happy together. However, I find myself stuck between a rock and a hard place. What should I do? Should I be honest with my friend about his boyfriend? Should I confess my feelings to him? Please help -- I'm at my wit's end.
Tony T
I think if your friend had an interest in you, you would have seen a hint of it...but then again you may have let a lot of hints go over your head. You really have no choice but to announce your feelings and let him know that if anything should ever go wrong in this other relationship, you would be very open to upgrade your current friendship. I don't think it would be honorable to cut down his lying, dryer lint companion in making your pronouncement. That would not be very cool. Just talk about your own feelings and leave it at that. Let your friend come to see his current relationship for what it is. That will happen in time if it hasn't happened already. It simply isn't fair to yourself to continue putting yourself through emotional torture by being around someone and being their buddy when you are wanting so much more.
