Steeeven
I am 15 years old, 5'11, about 187lbs. Its getting closer and closer to summer and iv decided to tone my muscles and get a lilttle trimmer. Thing is i dont know what im doing will have any affect on my appearence. I recently just bought multi-power bench. It lets you do curls, bench, leg exercises and etc... Im wondering if weight lifting 2x a day for 45 mins will do anything... DO i need to lose weight first since im chubby for the muscle to come through?? Or can i just lift and tone my excess fat into muscle?? When it gets warmer out im planning on running a mile a day and then lifting, but right now its still too cold out for that Does anybody have any suggestions or advice for me i would really appreciate it I gave up fried foods and fatty snacks iv been off them for about 2 1/2 months. westernxer
Don't life twice a day... that's not going to help your muscles. You need to let your muscles rest in order for them to grow. Do it every two to three days. Get a system going, including routines and number of repetitions for each routine. Then stick to it and increase the weight as you get stonger. If you're going to be doing free weights, break up your workout. For instance... Day one - chest and triceps Day two - shoulders, back, and biceps Day three - legs Day four - if you're still sore, rest Day five - chest and triceps And so forth... You should also mix in some cardiovascular activity before your workouts. If it's too cold out, stay indoors, stretch, and do jumping jacks, run in place, and/or other aerobic activity for 10-15 minutes. Then commence with your workout. You should also work on your abs after each workout. Crunches are usually the easiest since it doesn't require full extension. Start out lightly, but do them consistently until you notice a difference (as in easier to do). Then increase. Also, watch what you eat, but you're relatively tall, plus you're only 15, so you'll probably drop weight and tone up quite easily. Eat more protein, especially at dinner, and snack on fruits, cheese, nuts, and other healthy alternatives. No need to make any drastic changes, since you've got youth on your side. It's easier at that age, especially if you get into a habit of doing it. Your metabolism is probably very high, as it usually is for someone your age, so it shouldn't be difficult at all. I'm 31 and have to work harder at it, but that's just the way it is. You may also want to find a buddy who's into it. It's also a psychological boost, since the two of you can encourage each other. Hope this helps a little. It's just something to work with, but you can always modify your workout the way you like, as long as you're consistent.
