A little TMI in a dating profile?

Recommended Posts

Recently was reading this rather well written and put together profile from a rather intelligent woman. Kind of on the overweight side, but considers herself a "work in progress" (just started going to the gym). Cute smile and eyes.

She sounded very intelligent as her profile didn't sound like the typical garden variety type of profile. That's what MOSTLY me attracted me... her intellect or personality.

Anyhow, right in the middle of the profile she mentions she's "a lady in the streets and a freak in the sheets" and "you better last long, or else it wouldn't work."

And I was like, "Um.....wow...okay that's quite revealing" Though she followed that up with a statement of, "But I'm not here for a one-night stand either." I guess to fend off would be horndogs that would only hear "Freak in the sheets" and nothing more and want just one thing.

Anyhow, do you think what she said was favorable or a little off putting to be "putting it out there" in public like that?

normal person

It's a little surprising but I'm sort of becoming desensitized to this stuff. I've seen a lot of women have very little hesitation to answer all the sex questions on OKCupid, such as:

"If you really liked someone, after how many dates would you have sex with them?" (3-5 seems to be a common response).

"Is your ideal sex rough or gentle?" (only seen a few that gentle).

etc.

Not that I'm complaining, I think it actually gives people a bit of dimension when done tastefully. It makes seemingly uninteresting, boring, or frigid girls seem less so. It's easier than putting in guesswork.

On the other hands, men will see that say, "ooooh, easy lay!"

the synopsis of this lady's' ad is subjective and wide open to interpretation. What one person may deem as freaky maybe basic to another. The concern lays in the intent of such a comment. Without knowing the person and reading only the words, it does little to present itself as enticing. It leaves too much to debate.

I don't think there is any problem with stating one's sexual proclivity early to avoid later disappointment.

Heck, after YEARS on regular (vanilla) dating websites, I realized that if I wanted BDSM as part of my sexuality, I was going to have to go to a BDSM site to find that kind of guy and then work on the rest of the package that was important to me (brainy, cultured, traveler, etc.)

Although with my profile, I made it clear that although I was a freaky submissive, it was important for the guy to get to know my Brain first, my Heart second, and the sex would follow last...

you're assuming anything in an online profile is honest. did ALL people answer the OKC/Match?etc. questions honestly? get real. that is why you get offline asap and meet in person. answers and profiles aren't always accurate and are either embellishments, half-truths, outright lies, or fake. meet her in person and then you can judge
