adrian77
I was looking for a cleaner and checked under the sink in the hall bathroom and found and empty bottle of Southern Comfort. Last night when he came home from work he locked the door to the bathroom. He never does that when he is in there. So I asked him why he did and he said it was an accident. He is a compulsive liar but I figured whatever. Now I know why. I just wonder why I didn't smell it on him. I usually do. Now that I think about it though he has used mouthwash when he came home the last couple days. So I guess he is taking a swig and then masking it. I'm so angry. He has a bottle of whisky in the fridge that usually last him 2 days but it's been in there over a week and he made it seem like he was slowing down his drinking. Well obviously it's a decoy
jackslife
I haven't read your previous threads, so only have this to go on. So am guessing that you think your husband has an alcohol dependency problem. I.e you think he is an alcoholic. If he wants to drink, nothing will stop him until he decides he wants to quit. There may be posters on here who have lived with an alcoholic or are alcoholics themselves, and ideally they will be the ones to offer advice. My suggestion would be to contact AA, there's bound to be help and support from them for the spouses of drinkers, they might be better placed to give you the advice you need. You have to be really careful here, unless your H wants to give up and seek help to give up, nothing say will change that. Addicts are destroyed by this drug so you have every right to be concerned. Poppygoodwill
YOu're probably right, he's got a decoy in the bathroom. But that probably means that the fact of his uncontrolled drinking is open between you, and he's now trying to keep the peace by pretending it's getting better. Is that about it? My mother was an alcoholic. It's what killed her in the end. I could only stand on the sidelines and watch. The other poster is correct about getting help for yourself. Al Anon is for the families, as I'm sure you're aware. At least you'll get the support you need as you deal with all the b*ll**** that comes with addiction.
