I feel pushed in life...

Recommended Posts

I'm turning 22 next month and I'm still in college. Most of my peers from HS are graduating next semester and I feel like a "failure" so to speak because I'm still in the process. I'm trying hard to get into my 2 year program next fall. So if things go to plan I won't finish until I'm 24. Is that bad?

I want to think realistically though and there is a chance that I might not make it into the program which will set me back 1 year. So I wouldn't finish until I'm 25.

GAHHHH. I feel like such a loser. I'm only speaking for myself that is.

And for those who's attention I have, I've been thinking this as well. My entry exam is next Spring. I've I don't get accepted, I cannot attend in the Fall. I would literally have to wait 1 whole year to reapply.

Would it be bad idea to take that 1 year off to "find myself" lack for a better term. Besides, there's no other class I can really take.

Sorry just venting. I'm so stressed out.

Look, all that keeping up with your classmates stuff kind of falls apart in college. It's not like you're being held back a grade in elementary school. In college, everyone has a different academic agenda. Some things are harder than others. Some require more work, taking less hours, etc. Don't feel bad about that as long as you are working and doing your best and applying yourself. Now the only person you really need to compare yourself to is you. These other people are on different paths, so you can't all move through the stages together.

I was 25 when I graduated, and plenty of people including posters here graduated much later. We're all doing fine. This is nothing to stress out about.

The only person you have to compare yourself to is yourself. Are you proud of your current standings? If not, then work yourself 120% to get to when you will be.
