Author irc333
I think women are more content with being single. The reason I think that is because in most cases, a woman has a real emotional support system with other women in their family or with close friends. Usually women are able to share feelings more easily and openly than men are, regardless. We can gain a certain sense of security from family and close friends alike. I think women are more emotionally mature which could also be a reason we are more content with being single. Good points. I recall a couple of women that lived in my area. Friend of theirs tried to hook them into joining Meetup. They tried it once, weren't really social with the group and went home early. I got to know them a little and asked them if they mingled around , where in they said, "Nah, we're not really into making friends" They were considered "townies" (a term used by someone in these forums), "Townies" are typically people where their entire social life revolves around the people they grew up with, went to high school with, go to church with. Their entire family tree is practially within walking distance so they were caught up with spending more time with their neices and nephews than dating. Of course, it was kind of odd of them being the only single women in the family though. BUt apparently they were content with their own kids too. So they took their kids to visit 'gramma and peepaw or have them play with their brothers/sisters nieces and nephews. That's pretty much THEIR social life.

I think some people would refer to that as a FAMILY life. It's important to a lot of us, and often takes precedence (and is more fulfilling) than a SOCIAL life.
Ryan R.
When an elderly man dies, the wife usually lives on for quite a number of years. When an elderly woman dies in a couple, the man follows soon after in like a year or two. The fact that stuff like PUA and stuff even exists should be an answer to your question. It seems like women hold all the cards, especially now a days.
guest569
To me, growing old alone and happily single is a lot better than being desperate and settling for idiots.
