CarrieT
Why does nobody ever say "you shave your armpits? You must look 12". How come shaving lady bits in particular necessitates these insults, but shaving your legs or armpits doesn't? Because one does not usually have sex in one's armpit. And one's maturity is often based on the visuals of one's sexual organs. The nether region is a sexual organ and an armpit is not.

Keenly
People sjoipd be less concerned with other people's business. One person doesn't have the right to tell another they need to shave or not shave. Tell they you'll comply as long as the two of you will be doing the dirty. Until then....
writergal
Wow, its like you're really reaching for a reason. What about upper lip hair on women? Ah hah. Seems like you are the reacher here, my friend. Why don't you include the hairy kneecaps, legs, or bottom, or nape of the neck or eyebrows or chin hair on a woman while you're at it. Shaving one's pubic hair is stupid for these reasons (in my opinion as a VJJ owner myself): -you can get VJJ burn from sex because pubic hair protects it from the friction that happens with sex -doesn't project the VJJ from getting irritated or infected because pubic hair acts as an exterior filter of sorts. -regrowth of ingrown hairs is painful -it makes the woman look pre-pubescent and to me that's creepy period. Why do you still want to look 12 years old when you're in your 30s and 40s and 50s? I mean, ewww. -contains pheromones that attract men, from an odorless secretion made by the apocrine glands (found in the armpits and genitals) from the VJJ that gets trapped in the pubic hair has a musky smell that turn men on. Otherwise known as MHC: Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC). Each woman gives off a slightly different scent which lets men know when they are ovulating and are randy-dandy ready to go. *Why would you want to shave down there if you know you're taking away your own "Bat Signal" to attract men? Imported
Do what you want to do. Who the **** cares. I see a shaved pussy on a woman and I think it's a shaved pussy on a woman, but appearantly some people think of children. Sounds likee those people have a problem. Just like when I see women with small breast, I don't think any less of them compared to women with big breast.
Lernaean_Hydra
I think there is definitely some anger towards women who shave but I also think there's a lot of militant baldies out there who imply or even outright state that pubic hair is gross, dirty and/or that men don't like it and women who don't are somehow less desirable. Now I frankly find that attitude to be offensive. Then again, there are also men who complain about it to the point where they say they won't have sex with a woman unless she's shaved. I've always been baffled by that bit. Women shaving/waxing their bikini areas didn't become the "norm" until relatively recent decades and men were still having sex with them uncomplaingly and loving every minute of it. Personally, sometimes I shave, sometimes I trim to keep things neat and orderly and sometimes I don't do either. Never had a complaint either way so...

Yep, and its people like these that prompted me to make this thread. This whole business about looking like a 12 year old and "eww" is...well...immaturity galore. I think there is definitely some anger towards women who shave but I also think there's a lot of militant baldies out there who imply or even outright state that pubic hair is gross, dirty and/or that men don't like it and women who don't are somehow less desirable. Now I frankly find that attitude to be offensive. Huh, I must not get out much lol. I've never encountered anyone who said that about pubic hair. I've never actually seen pubic hair called "disgusting" or "dirty" before either, and if anyone actually wrote that on LS then I've never seen it, but maybe that's because I don't frequent the sex forum often. anika99 stated earlier that she finds "pubic hair looks messy" to be offensive. That I don't understand, because that's personally my reason why I shave, but what looks messy to me obviously doesn't look messy to others and that's cool. As someone who shaves, I am allowed to have reasons as to why I shave that are not "because men/culture forced me to". But calling pubic hair disgusting is really extreme. I honestly had no idea people actually said those kinds of things, and now that I hear that I get why women who have pubic hair tend to say what they do. But why get mad at women for men's preferences? I agree with that as well, though. To withhold sex from a woman because you don't like what she does to her own body is controlling. I have no problem with guys having a preference, but it isn't their place to force a woman to change her grooming habits.

Yeah, I was speaking more so in a general sense, not just about here on LS. anika99 stated earlier that she finds "pubic hair looks messy" to be offensive. I honestly had no idea people actually said those kinds of things, and now that I hear that I get why women who have pubic hair tend to say what they do. Right, and I think most people (myself included) take offense to this kind of attitude because it sort of reenforces negative stereotypes about pubic hair and attempts to shame people for their personal choices. And, in fact it does lead some (not all, not even most) women to feel pressured to go hairless because they think doing otherwise is a bad thing. Funnily enough, a long time ago when I was too young to be listening to their show, a local group of hosts on the Frosty, Heidi & Frank were talking about a (then) recent trip the playboy mansion and how they were put off by the number of totally waxed women they ran into. They all (Heidi was bisexual) were into women but said something along the lines of "Yeah, not every vulva looks good shaved ladies, just a remember...." and it always stuck with me because it's totally true. Sometimes a nice landing strip or something can actually be quite arousing and more aesthetically pleasing than shaved. But why get mad at women for men's preferences? I agree with that as well, though. To withhold sex from a woman because you don't like what she does to her own body is controlling. I have no problem with guys having a preference, but it isn't their place to force a woman to change her grooming habits. I don't think anyone's getting mad at women for what some guys like/want. I know I certainly wasn't. But I do take issue with anyone painting male preferences with such a broad brush or making it seem like whatever they do/like is what all men want (this goes both ways mind you). Personally, whenever I do go bare it's for myself for one of three reasons: the coarseness of the hair has come to bother me, it makes periods easier to deal with or I just wanted to try something different. I've never shaved at a man's request though I am courteous enough to ask a guy what he prefers. Yet all have said they either don't care or like/enjoy pubic hair.

Radu
I was recently rereading an old thread of mine about shaving. There was also a thread floating around in the sex forum on this topic. This raises a few questions for me. I have noticed that women who don't shave their lady bits, and also men who prefer unshaven lady bits, frequently hurl around the insult "women who shave look like they're 12". Why? Why does nobody ever say "you shave your armpits? You must look 12". How come shaving lady bits in particular necessitates these insults, but shaving your legs or armpits doesn't? Also, someone on one of these threads said that shaving your vag is either cultural or because men like it. Why isn't it because its simply a woman's preference and she just likes it that way? Why does her choice always have to be about culture or men? And I also don't really get why that's a bad thing- the culture reasoning. Shaving your armpits and shaving your legs, is that also not cultural? It doesn't seem like such a hot issue though, why? I am not trying to sound confrontational, just want to know why people think this way and what is their reasoning, since none of this has ever occurred to me, regardless of whether I have hair down there or not. This thread is nothing without 1 [or more] users who have a major problem with this, the fact that it comes from porn that abusive to women, and that men do not feel the shame properly !!! I summon thee !!!

There are posters in this thread who I don't agree with, but I have not insulted them and their choices, and I have made efforts to understand where they are coming from. If you come in this thread, which is already discussing an issue that many people find sensitive, and hurl around insults like shaven women look like they're 12, and liken their vaginas to clams, do you really think that is going to be well-received? TFY How so? I don't have an issue if people are saying shaving is not their thing, but calling a shaven vagina a clam? Its a bit grating, not to mention saying "eww" is a tad...immature. That's something little children use as a comeback. Not everyone agrees with me, there are people on here who I know don't shave. I am not having a problem with that, but if you're just going to come here and hurl insults, what's the point? I don't need anyone cheering me on, so you have the wrong impression. I apologize if I appear defensive. I can't say I take it well when someone says that the state of my vagina is "clam-like" or that I look like I'm 12. And fyi, just because a woman shaves, it doesn't mean she's following the rage of the day. As Emilia pointed out, some women have been shaving long before shaving was the rage of the day. TFY No, actually if you have read here and on the other threads just like this one, this analogy is exactly what is being thrown at people that like women who shave. Except for tha gay part and I think she threw that out more as a cheap shot than anything else. Defamation of character doesn't really need proof. Personally, I don't care about the people whome disagree with me. It doesn't really matter. Till they start associating me to deginerates like pedofilers because I like a shaved pussy.
