We went to counseling and that made it worse but I never saw it coming. Little background. My wife and I fell in love quick and I was head over heels in love and so was she. This was her third marriage and my first and I was determined to make it work. She warned me she didn't want to marry a drunk before we married and well I drank, well so did she and we both did together. Well she married me anyways and I was the happiest man in the world. I married a woman 11 yrs older than me but it never bothered me..ever. We tried to build a marriage through tough times. Her adult son always got in the way. Constantly high, drunk would stay out all night and would never go to school was draining for four years. Well I'll bring it to today. She told me we are not getting back together and she loves me but not in love with me. Whatever that means? I love my wife dearly. We still talk and I am nice and so is she. No papers have been filed or anything. I'm just wondering what do I have to do? I have been going to counseling and my first aa meeting is Tom night. There is a book, however, that I recommend highly - Love Must Be Tough: New Hope for Marriages in Crisis by Dr. James Dobson. It will give you some very practical steps to take to maximize the possibility of saving your marriage. If your wife shows any interest in counseling I would also recommend that you Google the National Institute of Marriage. It specializes in intensive counseling and has a phenomenal record for turning marriages around. I hope things go well and that your marriage is saved. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
