Act like a man or be nice?

Ive read that girls like guys with guts that take what they want instead of asking permission.

So I know this girl, she gave me her number but she also has a very busy schedule. Now im thinking should I first message her asking if I may call her. Or should I just call her? Or take the middle ground and message her saying im going to call you and then call.

I know im being very detailed here but I just don't wanna **** this up.

Someone please give me right advice pls.

I'd text her telling her you want to call her at x time. It's startling when guys I give my number to call me without notice but some pretty pleasant conversations have followed after that but there've also been some really awkward ones because I was totally unprepared. A little warning is always nice, especially if I need to finish up a task or find a quiet place I can talk without listening ears or distractions.

i'd just call. that's like asking for permission to kiss your date without just doing it. just ask if it's a good time for her when you call or if you need to call back.

I don't mind either option.

Either: text her and ask if it's a good time for you to call. In one way I'd like that because it shows consideration.

Then again, confidence in guys is sexy. If you just call her, it shows that. If she doesn't pick up, it's not a good time, or she's playing games (in a 'good' way). She may or may not text you if she misses your call. If she doesn't, you should still call back a little later on.

If youre thinking about that, youve already lost

I don't necessarily agree with this. Some women (*cough* Lernaean Hydra *cough*) hate getting random, unexpected phone calls from guys I barely know. Half the time I'm doing something or otherwise unable to talk on the phone at that exact moment.

If a woman doesn't reciprocate in one way or another after a guy initiates contact that is just flat out disrespectful. She does not deserve a second call!!!

I agree with you, and personally, I do reciprocate in some way when a guy initiates contact. However, many women's magazines and books advise us not to contact a guy if we miss a call from them. They explicitly say not to contact him, because if he REALLY likes us, he'll call again (i.e "the chase"). I'm not big on games like this, but it's something to consider.

Good men are nice. Those qualities are not mutually exclusive.

Asking permission to call is lame IMHO. Just call her. That level of "taking what you want" is a far cry from bashing her over the head & dragging her to your lair by her hair caveman style.

If lady gives man number, man calls lady to arrange date, presuming one cannot be arranged at time lady gives man number. It doesn't have to be hard. If lady doesn't answer, man leaves friendly voice message. Done and over. Whatever works out works out. It's acting like a man and being nice all wrapped up in one.

Why do you say that?

if youre thinking about doing it, and all these scenarios, you already lack the confidence to just do it.

- If you just call, and she doesnt want to talk to you, she probably wouldnt want to talk to you anyway.

All you do is waste time thinking about approaching.

When you just approach, you find out everything you want to know

Be a nice man. And just call, as long as it is at a reasonable hour I am sure it will be fine. I have had men call me at 1am or 5am, yeah.. dealbreaker!!!

Nah, as long as he doesn't call at some odd time of the day. I mean, one guy called me at freakin' 6AM!!!

I used to give out times that were best to reach me when I would give out my tel, but now I just let them know not to freak if I don't get back immediately cuz I get busy.

I mean, when I'm first chatting with someone and they seem to be busy and/or have an odd schedule - I ask them upfront what time would work for them.

Call her. This whole business of texting to arrange a time to call is silly imho. If she can't answer, she won't - thats what voicemail is for.

But then I'm not a huge fan of texting.

Like others have said - call. And don't call on a Friday or Saturday night. That will either feel desperate or like a booty call.

Some girls also don't pick up if it is an unknown number...

Get on with it.

Its not a matter of confidence, im trying not to pressure her and being considerate. She is a single mother with a busy life.

If she is busy, she will arrange another time for you to call or she will call you back. No big deal.

Don't communicate with her to ask to communicate with her...

- pants up

- dial her number

- ask her out

- ;)
