SixthSt.Girl
I dyed my hair with a permanent home color. I rinsed it out and grabbed shampoo instead of the color conditioner! Is the hair color already set, or is it possible that the shampoo stripped out the color? I saw more red in the sink after I shampooed when I thought I had rinsed all the dye out. I conditioned heavily afterward. The shampoo I used luckily is gentle and made for color-treated hair, but is it ok to shampoo directly after coloring, or did it totally ruin my color? I've never used this brand or shade, so I don't know how it is supposed to turn out (my hair was already colored to begin with, so the shade chart on the box probably doesn't apply). agnf666
Hmm... You may need to recolor. You are not suppose to shampoo your hair for atleast a day after coloring. So, that sets in the color. What brand are you using and the color? Red colors wash out very very easily. You need to get shampoo for red hair in order to keep it. How long is your hair? You might want to think about recoloring it in 2 weeks. How many times have you colored it? If your hair is already colored, you will have either darker shades then the color chart or lighter. The color charts are not all that good.

[/color] I used Balsam Color by Clairol in medium reddish brown. Hydrience in dark blonde is what I normally use. I colored using that about a month ago. My hair is naturally med-dark brown and I usually go lighter, but the roots are too hard to maintain - I don't want to color that often. I just wanted to go back to my natural color with some red to brighten it up. It actually turned out well. There is not much red at all -I've tried to go redder before, and my hair won't take it for some reason. The pooing didn't help, but I don't think it would've been much redder, anyway. I was just worried it would've washed out all the color, but my roots at least match the rest of my hair now. Red hair, even slightly reddish hair, sounds like it would a PITA to maintain, anyway, so maybe it's a blessing. Thanks.
agnf666
you might want to go for a a true red color to get red results. The thing is once you go red you can't get away from it. I have med dark brown hair. It only use to be brown, once I started to dye it red, I can't get rid of it. Bleaching it out doesn't work to well. If you don't want to dye it agian the just wash your hair often and it should come out. The dye you are using is okay. I would stay away from Revlon colorsilk and Nice and easy
