Approaching Girls in Vintage Clothes?

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

So, I want to ask the community here on there opinion. (Mostly the females) But what is your opinion on men wearing vintage clothes if they approach you? Honestly! I mean, what if 'I', a young male, were to approach you in full 1940s clothing with a fedora, suit, black shoes, and the rest of the classical arsenal of clothing?

To be honest, I don't mind wearing modern clothes (since I do a lot of the times during my day anyway) but I'd like to know what would you think of a male approaching you with that sort of attire? Would you be more intrigued to accept him or reject his "out-of-time" attirely approach?

Thanks!

Depends if he smiled and said hello or if he were rude an obnoxious...

You would stand out thats for sure!

Yeah, that's pretty much the goal. But is standing out a good thing or a bad thing in this case scenario?

I like 40s fashion, it is just so elegant. I was looking at some photos of older family members, and even though they were not rich (not even middle class) they looked like a million bucks because of the type of clothes and the fabrics.

On topic, I would think that your attire is interesting, given that it suits you and looks natural on you. I would probably ask you where you shop because I would like a 40s brown linen dress with high shoulders.

Presuming strangers, if the lady likes how you look, your clothing won't interfere with that and could augment the attraction.

ExW and I used to do the Fedora lounge stuff, generally when going to the theater, and had quite a good time with it. I still have my vintage stuff, including quite a cufflink and tie-tac collection from my father. Haven't worn it since getting a D but I don't socialize that way as much anymore.

IMO, dress in a style you enjoy and what happens, happens. There are billions of women in the world. You're bound to run into some who will find you attractive, vintage clothing and all.

Generally, vintage clothes look good on people who wear them all the time, otherwise they can look a bit costume-y. Vintage is an attitude as much as a style, a preference for old-fashioned quality, glamour and values. Sounds like that's you so go for it!

Yes and it makes for a valid reason why we need equality on all levels

If he was friendly I would also be friendly.

The 40's thing I would see as an interest/passion though and well, I am not into the red lipstick, heavy make up, hairspray, curlers and straight nylons enough.

Women who do look great but for me that would be a whole lot of work in getting ready/dressed.

We have a race day at Goodwood Race Track every year and people look amazing but doing it myself is not for me. (Google Goodwood Revival).
