Do you like your boss?

I hate to say it but there is much less drama with male bosses.

Agreed. There are no power trips, no drama, no hysteria. I can have a perfectly rational conversation with my male bosses about difficult things. The only time I had real issues were when I reported to women (two so far). One shouted at me in front of everyone in the office.

I get on with my female colleagues so...

Totally agree but that also causes me a problem seeing as I am a female boss

Unless they are horrid drunks who make inappropriate passes at you every time they've hit the bottle (which happened every other day, like clockwork. I guess the "other" day was to cure the hangover)

But then, this guy was my only really horrible experience.

I've had one other not AMAZING experience with a male boss, in that our thought processes were completely different and we didn't see eye to eye on a lot of things, mainly on how to problem solve. That did not go very well for me...

I have the same problem with my female boss at the moment (different thought processes), but luckily, we don't work together. She's an office person, while I'm a techie in the field (with the male boss, we actively worked together at least 3 days a week).

Fortunately I've always got on well with my bosses, but then I'm pretty easy to get along with in general and I just want to do my job, and do it well.

Only bosses I've ever had any discrepancies with is one boss that micromanaged because it was clear he didn't have a clue what he was doing and he got uptight about trivial, inconsequential things. I wrote him an email and explained he was my third boss in the 6 months I was at the company, so give me a little time to get acclimated to his specific management style and then it was smooth sailing (he did eventually get fired for being incompetent).

The other boss didn't pay me for 6 weeks (I was very very green at the height of the recession). I never exchanged any harsh words with him, I just had to quit and take him to court to get my money. I was never nasty with him though.

I agree with ET about male bosses. My two currents are women and both amazing bosses but a little grumpy sometimes as women are more emotional and you know, we have our cycles and such.
