Author ktya
While a police report might get her on their radar and help the next victim it's some pretty sketchy details I would be supplying them. I might just talk to them to get it on file in case something else happens. As for the tenants I'm going to just write them an official letter.

ascendotum
She might already be on their radar... but either way you should report her for theft and tell them the whole story. Yeh I think it might be worthwhile doing that just so its on file. I doubt they will do anything given the lack of evidence. I'd file a claim in small claims court/tribunal or whatever its called over there for the $ she owes you. Again that might be difficult if all it comes down to is 'he said' vs 'she said'. Too bad if your witness to the loan is one of your traitor tenants. What a parasitic c*** she turned out to be.

TigerLilly78
Um of course the tenants are going to be upset they been paying you rent no? and you are behind handing that over to the LL? you were behind on that even before this girl came around it sounds? granted she had no right to snoop and then pass that info onto them but I can def see were they would be pissed I would if some one did that to me sorry op I wouldn't be to hard on the tenets at this point.. rester
I have permission to sublet rooms in my rented home from my landlord. So you are renting rooms out for the full price of the rent so you don't have to pay your own rent? And the crazy woman told your tenants/renters this and they are pissed because you are over-charging them? Just trying to clarify why your tenants would be pissed at you and not the woman who squatted in your house rent-free for two months.
TigerLilly78
She needs to stop screaming at you or she can leave. I am a little confused as to why your tenant is screaming at you. Sometimes a police report can help the next person down the line who is similarly victimized. Prob because hes late on their rent after im guessing they gave him the money for it? if I thought there was any chance of me losing my home after I paied my "LL" my half of the rent ide be screaming too I think most people would.. Author ktya
It's a long story on how I got behind on the rent but I was paying the landlord a month and a half every month long before this girl arrived. I got laid off found new work and my unemployment claim didn't go through. When I started getting paid again I told this girl (the now ex girlfriend) that she needed to go home or get her own money because I was behind on my rent and couldn't afford to pay for everything. That's when she piped up that she would pay it for me and that she had this draft made up and it was just going to be a couple days. Well a couple days turned into a month and I was saying to her this can't keep going on because I have to pay the man something and now he's expecting this. So yes I'm in the glue pretty good. On the tenants they will be ok because once I realized that the money was a sham I kicked the woman out and started talking to my landlord. The girl sharing the details with my tenants and then emailing my landlord has made this tightrope mess she caused absolutely unbearable. If this woman never came into my life I would have been happily paying him a month and a half each month once I started working again and this whole mess would have never happened. Ironically the $160 she took out of my bank account (that I got back) was actually rent money given by the same tenant that was with her less than an hour after he paid it. Ok but the thing I don't get is if they are paying the rent why didn't you hand it over to the LL that same day? as it wasn't yours to spend you say they pay the rent in full even? so in essence you took their rent money and did not pay the rent. Sorry Op when you sublet and to the extent you seam to you have a responsibility to pass it along regardless of what your personal financial situations are cause its not your money basically. As I said she shouldn't have snooped and shared that info but instead of being mad at your tenets and threatening to get rid of them at this point ide be apologizing profusely to them wither or not they side with her is irrelevant in the financial situation at hand.. And if they are paying the rent in full even if you had fallen on some hard times I cant see were things got that bad unless your living beyond your means..I think some of the stuff going on with them is mostly your own doing at this point the girl opening up that can of worms just helped it along.. Author ktya
Not really tigerlily. What you describe is more like a few roommates all on the lease giving the rent money to one person to hand to the landlord. If the person doesnt hand over the money, theyre all on the hook. Usually they would be paying equal shares. Without getting into the legal semantics of subletting too deeply, rents here have tripled since i moved in so i got permission to sublet in order to profit and subsidize my costs. My tenants fill out a rental agreement with me and pay a deposit, i collect rents from them and i deal with my landlord seperately. My tenants pay rent all inclusive and i look after the utilities and appliances (theyre mine, didnt come with the house). I am also left holding the bag if one of them midnught moves, if a room stays empty for a few months, or if a tenant doesnt oay or causes damage. In effect, a lot of the pain in the neck about being a landlord and the afilliated risks is removed from my landlord. He gets a tenant who keps the checks coming for 13+ years, i get subsidized rent when things go well. Granted this is a bad situation, no doubt about it, but my landlord is working with me so these tenants are getting exactly what they are paying for, a room, heat, hot water, electricity and the use of all of my dishes, towels, appliances, and furniture. The debt to my landlord is exclusively mine, there is no flow through to them, whether i pay it on time or not. If anyone gets sued its me, whether it be my tenants, or my landlord. The tenants couldnt sue me for anything because they have received exactly what they are paying for. My landlord on the other hand, could decide to sue me. Anyway i cant beleive that this ex emailed my landlord. What a b**ch. Here she was on one hand repeatedly promising me all this money for my landlord that was always just a couple days away... While on the other hand freaking out my tenants when the reason the bill was getting so large was because i was covering her until the money came. And it never did and never would, because it was a farce from the begining. I even said to her at one point, listen if this money isnt coming please tell me so i can make another arrangement with my landlord... she assured me it was a guaranteed done deal and not to worry. For the sake of staying on topic, lets not get into a protracted debate on subletting. Ive been doing it for years and could talk about it forever but this is a relationship forum and ive been scammed pretty good.
TigerLilly78
Right your trying to say that basically because you allow them to use your stuff then the money they give you to pass onto the real land lord to keep the roof over their heads is then yours? im not an expert in subletting granted but I do know if they pay you and you fail to pass it along to the guy who owns the house IE the real LL. And he decides your to far in the rears you all get kicked out on your rear ends so again the tenets are not in the wrong to be upset here not one bit but im not going to keep repeating myself that fact is clear to most ide think at this point anyways as I said wasn't right the EX aired this dirty laundry but not much you can do now I guess.. SawtoothMars
At my stage in the game all the non-crazy age-appropriate lifelong partners are long taken. There's always one reason or another their previous 15-20 years worth of relationships never stuck. Good solid women are taken by men who know what a good thing that they have at this stage in the game. Mutli-dating was fun, and because of diversification and a well groomed roster it was easy to just walk away at the first sign of crazy. I got more action than a porn star and when I wanted time to my self it was as simple as not making a phone call. When I broke up with my ex I had made the decision to never get another girlfriend again. It was the right decision, and I'm quite ashamed that I ever bothered to question it. Hopefully I dont ever again. O Canada! Our women are so nuts! True psycotics love in all thy sons demand. With glowing hearts we see thy gals insane, The True Crazies strong and free! While I won't say you are wrong... if he has truly been renting this house for 14 years and has a solid relationship with the landlord... I think your fears are not well founded. Right im not saying he doesn't have a decent relationship with his original LL it sounds like he dose. All I am saying is those subtenants have every right to be ticked when they learned their rent money did not go were it was suppose to IE the real LL..and im sure no matter how chummy one gets with their LL at some point even after 13 years if the cash doesn't materialize they have to let you go.. As the world dosen't run on friendship and promises sadly..hopefuly OP can get the cash together in time and learn from all this cause it sounds like it was a on going problem before this women even came into the picture she just happen to blow the cover off of it..some one had asked why the tenets were screaming at him this is likely why..thats why I pointed it out in the 1st place.. They have a right to be upset if they get eviction notices and that is it. He could take their rent money... roll it into a cigarette and smoke it. They don't have a right to complain about how he spends his money just as you don't get to complain how your bank spends the profit from your mortgage. IF he winds up getting evicted himself... they actually have legal rights and could easily work out a deal with the landlord to stay. Also... I have found that the truth of the world is that it does run on friendship and promises. That may sound like a great thing... until you realize that success is based more on who you know than anything else.

Every crazy gf ive had was white except for the iranian... But her skin was white enough that i bought her lie that she was spanish. Im going to stick to asians now. Finally, someone who understands the way subletting works. Anyway i dont want this thread to turn into a long debate on subletting. I asked my landlord to forward me the email so i can include it in the police report. This woman has no phone number (as previously stated in this thread she wouldnt give me her number but i did some checking and discovered that she just has no phone carrier, was just riding my wifi - probably screwed all the phone companies) no address (has no home) so there is no way to even contact her. I really doubt that i will get anything back especially with no pictures of the rings but at least if shes screwed over guys before or is in the process of screwing someone else right now the pattern can get established. Let the police worry about that. Just hurry up and file that report while there's still time for them to go and get her photo from any CCTV camera at/near the ATM where she took out your money etc. You can always give them more detail later.
Author ktya
Oh god. Plot thickens. My female tenant now says that she is missing rings. When she asked me about it she was alluding that maybe I took them. I told her to go ahead and file a police report, and that I have to file my own for my own missing rings. Maybe she'll get it that I've been screwed over by a smooth operator now that she realizes she hot played too.
beach
But you haven't yet taken action to file that report yet, right? You should. I would suspect other tenants will come forward with missing items... Seems like druggie behavior- they steal everything possible.
Author ktya
I haven't had time but I do intend to file. This whole situation has had me so stressed out I've been waiting for the dust to settle a bit. Last night was relatively quiet, no tenants screaming at me the only shoe to drop was finding out that the chick had contacted my landlord. I found out about the tenants missing rings just this morning. I'm walking a tightrope right now and it's hard enough without all these monkey wrenched getting thrown at me. I don't think it's drugs because I spent a lot of time with her, but at this point I don't know what to believe or expect. I told the other tenant who is home a lot to check if he hears someone come home to make sure it's not her. She owes him money and he's pretty low so I said if on the off chance she offers to pay you please meet her somewhere don't let her in the house. A compounding problem here is she played the both of them. They didn't have much on the line so they never fact checked her like I did. She played to them that she was a concerned friend who wanted to make sure that they were ok because I was in the glue with my landlord. Meanwhile she kept telling me that the money was just around the corner and not to worry while I supported her. It's almost like a variant of the Nigerian scam. "Keep supporting me and I will give you money.". When she realized that the game was up she resorted to theft as her exit strategy. I'm starting to know why that guy on OKC sent her 40 messages in a row.
eye of the storm
This isn't going to help you with her but it might help you in the future...I had a boss tell me once about a job offer I had gotten, if it seems to good to be true, it is. He was right, the job offer was a scam. You let a woman you barely knew move into your house because she offered you money to get you out of debt. Why would she do that? You continued to ignore all the red flags, because you kept thinking its going to get better. And now you are dealing with the aftermath of refusing to look at things realistically. In the future, keep your willy wrapped, your finances private, and your strange out of your house. I hope you get out of this with no more damage.
Author ktya
As said before this was not some random. She came from my hometown and used to be my parents neighbor for many years. Lots of mutual high school friends. That part wasn't a ruse, there's no way she could have known a lot of what we talked about in the beginning without being there. I would have had my radar more up otherwise. But yes I got scammed good. I knew she was lying to me but I never figured she'd outright steal. Sigh. I guess I'm going home to another sht storm tonight.
