I'm curious....have you ever just randomly had a bad memory pop into your head. If so, what do you do to push it out of your mind.

This happened to me last night.

My BF and I were watching TV and all of a sudden, for no reason that I can figure, a memory popped into my head of something that had been the cause of a huge argument between the two of us, like 2 years ago!

It was something that was very upsetting to me at the time and something that it took us a while to work through.

When it came back into my mind, it instantly changed my mood and I hated having it on my mind again. I haven't thought about that incident in a very, very long time. It left me feeling uneasy...like why would it have randomly popped into my head?

There is no tension or argument going on with us right now. Things have been fantastic lately. We were watching TV, laughing and talking and all of a sudden I get this memory that had nothing to do with anything that was going on.

Has this ever happened to you?

I think bad memories surface due to some unresolved issue in the relationship. Part of you is resentful that something wasn't addressed properly. Yes it has happened to me, and in retrospect, it happened because I was not satisfied with the relationship.

Yes I get this. I think most people do. Its to help us stop making the same mistakes again I guess.

Let it pass, concentrate on something else and it will fade.
