FitChick
Something we don't really think about until we fall over! Send this link of a short video with Jane Fonda, 77 next month , to your parents, aunts, uncles and tell them to try these two very short exercises. They look deceptively easy. Try them yourself! You may be surprised. For some reason, I can balance on my left leg but get wobbly on my right. Anyone know why that is? I always had a hard time on the balance beam at school, preferring the parallel bars. No problem riding a bike, though.
dichotomy
Good thread. Balance and stability is something I have been trying to improve. "Tree pose" in yoga was/is challenging for me (as a big guy and middle aged) I can only get my foot on my calf, but would love to get to my thigh some day. Recently i added Bulgarian split squats to my routine and finding my balance in these has been a little challenging. I have seen some bosu ball exercises that look very challenging - especially with the half ball down standing on the flat part while exercising. May have to try one. I guess there is some debate on the effectiveness of these but I think it makes some sense. Edited November 29, 2014 by dichotomy
