alphamale
OK so i am turning 40 in about 10 hours. I feel so relaxed and calm...it's strange, I thought I'd be freaking out. Anyone have any words of wisdom or advice for someone who's about to become an old man?? Thanks to all my cool virtual friends on LS for the nice words (yes, you too MOIMEME ). quankanne
it's all in the mind. for some odd reason, it hit hard when I turned 25 and I'm STILL puzzling over that one!!! now, though, I realize it's not the number, but how you feel inside. and to be honest, I feel more like the college coed I was than someone expecting to hit the big 4-0 next year, and it's a good feeling. it also helps that I don't really remember how old I am anymore -- I just tell people I was born in '66 and for them to do the math (keeps them ugly little numbers at bay, lol). something to make you laugh: one of the women in my exercise class, Thelma, has a "baby" who turned 40. On the day of his birthday, she came to the pool laughing about how good she felt the night before, like she was soaring, but then she started feeling really bad. She said she happened to look at the clock, then realized her body remembered going into labor with the "baby" 40 years ago that night!!! hope you have a great birthday, alpha
HotCaliGirl
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALPHAMALE! I turned 30 in January and it seems like 40 will be right around the corner. My advice - don't start to act all "old" but stay young at heart

whichwayisup
Enjoy it while you can eh! Nah, I agree with everyone else. It is what you make it into be. Turning 30 for me bothered me alot...About a week or so after it all hit me I'M 30 and HEY! I don't feel any different - I relaxed. You are young at heart, you like to play hard and live in the moment...There is no reason why any of that has to change. I think 'others' perceive or think we all should make that huge change once you reach a certain age! NOPE, not me. ONE day when I am 50 I still want to listen to the music I listen to now, I wanna be in barefeet in the summer, vaccuum in just my undies (Yes, I really DO this, drives my hubby insane cuz he's always paranoid a neighbour will look in - I say, SO WHAT? If they look, they look, boobs are boobs!LOL!) and just cuz now I'm 30 doesn't mean I always have to act like it. Watch Cartoons! Play with Lego! WHO actually Grows out of Lego? LOL...When you're with your guy buddies, don't you revert back to a young teen? Ahhh, it's a cake walk. You will be fine and dandy.

Color-coordinating walker. Don't ArmorAll your walker! 2. Won't have to pretend to fit in with the thirty-something crowd 3. Nursing homes start to look appealing 4. You're almost a grown-up 5. Future: Afgans and All My Children 6. Declare young children must respect their elders (in form of cash gifts on your birthday) 7. Only twelve more years until your college loans are paid off 8. Can finally relate to Paul Newman movies 9. You're half way to being a golfer 10. Start to wonder how much longer you'll have to work in that hell-hole before they recognize you for the genius you are and offer you early retirement
