Being called too thin

Recommended Posts

A lot of larger ladies think that shovelling chocolate in your mouth every day is normal. That fat is normal. One of them recently offered me some chocolate in the office, I took one piece and she went 'oh for god's sakes take another one!' when I said no thank you for more. Not all of us are into gluttony and apparently it's news that some of us feel that way.

I always like the part where they tell me I gotta live a little. Like eating 5000+ calories a day of all your favorite foods without any self control is living.

I'm not an expert on "living". There are some things I do wrong, I am sure of that. But I don't think gourging yourself on cheese burgers, pizza and chocolate is living. Honestly, I think it's pretty sad.

And then the, "you spend too much time working out" and I am wasting my life away in the gym cause I go there @ 2 hours a day, pretty much every day. This coming from dudes over 30 that spend most likely 6+ hours a day playing video games.

And then the, 'you must be on steroids...' cause they work out and watch what they eat, but are still fat. Why, once they even went almost a whole month of showing up at the gym and walking for 10 minutes on the treadmill and still they didn't lose weight. And they even ate less food than I do.......at the restuarant we went to durring lunch hour from work where I had a full on meal and they had a salad with a diet coke. Not the part where they went home and ate a large pizza by themselves since no one saw that so those calories don't count.

I

Anyone had the same problem?

I use to get this all the time and it is mega annoying. I eat like a field hand and finally now that I am getting old have started to gain weight. If you are eating alot and still losing weight you should get a medical check up.

I get those comments, too.

But I don't enjoy overeating. Too much sugar makes me feel lazy, and too much food is simply painful to me. Even a big meal makes it difficult to be active for hours later.

Moving my body (running, dancing, playing, working) makes me feel alive. Eating is fuel for life, not life. Food is tasty, yes, but a small portion is just as tasty as a large portion. And I happen to have a taste for healthy things, like stir fried veggies and fresh garden tomatoes that tempt me more than chocolate.

I've gotten called too thin most of my life by some. Oh, well. Too thin for what? I've grown, delivered, and nursed two babies with this thin body. I think that disproves the theory of "too thin" :p

eta.....no doctor has ever called me too thin.

Sometimes my mom calls me too thin, and it's quite annoying. I'm 6' and topped out at 264 pounds a long time ago. I started down a healthy lifestyle path and eventually my weight is now 170. I'm a lean 170. But I guess she's just used to me being heavier. And there's really nothing I can say to her but that I eat a lot but I exercise a lot.

Ignore the haters. They're so full of **** it's not even funny. Congrats for exercising and being healthy.

....what it needs, how it is structured, what your goals are, or what your health is. weight - for fat or thin - shouldn't be mentioned. i dislike the thin comments a lot, whether they stem from jealousy, who knows and who cares. they make me self-conscious and i've always disliked it.

Chances are high it is born out of jealousy from what I have observed of women over the years. You seem to realise that so I don't get it why it would upset you (assuming its not done in a ostracizing manner) rather than leave you with a feeling of 'yeah whateva bitches'. Being thin for a woman anyway in this day & age in the overfed west, is a good thing. Like I knew a few thin women who used to complain about this but they never had a shortage of male attention and ironically were judgmental when it came to men's physiques and overweight women who they looked down on. If runway models and magazine cover women looked more like Melissa McCarthy I'd get it more then.

Amen sister! I find that people who tell me I am too thin, well.. they are people that I think could loose a few pounds. I am just too polite to tell them!

This is so true. I was always thin and women were the only ones who complained about how I looked. Men always told me I was fine. I don't know why women would comment on another womans weight whether she is fat or skinny. It's just rude. It would be different if it were a close friend who noticed you had lost an extreme amount of weight in a short period of time and was worried about your health but strangers and co workers should mind their bees wax. God only knows how they would react if you asked them why they are so fat.
