Jessica 5
This doesn't really relate to typical problems on the Loveshack, but I was just wondering if any of you ever saw the 1976 science fiction film "Logan's Run" starring Micael York about a society of people living in the "city of Domes" never knowing or having seen the outside world. This utopian society lives only for pleasure similarly to the ancient Greeks and Romans. The only catch is that one's life must end at 30 in the fiery ritual called "Carrousel" where one is supposedly renewed. I saw this film as a child and was very intrigued by it. This past week I rented the video and saw it again. For some reason I can't stop thinking about the ideas of the story and the idea of life ending at 30. For those of you who saw the film, what were your impressions and feelings that it triggered in you?
Tony T
It was amusing and had some interesting concepts to ponder. But I fully realized throughout that it was a movie, not based on reality, and nothing like this shall ever happen on this planet...at least not in the next ten or 15 generations. I do think that the idea of a time certain death would certainly motivate a lot of people to live life more fully, get away from their computers more often, get out there and do things...make contributions to the world. I love movies and Hollywood. Those writers have incredible imaginations. Frankly, I would prefer to live the life of Forrest Gump. Being very rich and too stupid to worry about the small stuff is my idea of where it's at. I guess the only drawback to being Forrest would be smelling like shrimp all the time.
