Be yourself. Not

Worst advice, Isn't it?

I've been told to do so. Yet noone likes "me". They like the fake me that i have ot put up, but real me, nah.

Seriously what's the point of this.

Even my best friends told me to "be yourself", yet they complain about my real "self".

THis is just bull****, i don't fit in today's standards i guess, /rant.

Life's too short to be inauthentic. Find better friends, and lovers.

It's a work in progress, 24 years. Didn't find any yet.

Sorry to hear; I do understand the frustration.

But 24 is still young! Hopefully, the upcoming year brings many great people into your life.

eye of the storm

Here is the issue with putting on a fake face. Eventually the real you will come out. If they "like" or "fell in love" with the fake you, they didn't fall in love with you.

If you let who you really are shine thru, then the person how likes/falls in love is falling in love with you. And the relationship is more likely to last.

Now, that being said...do you have things you need to work on? for example Anger issues or boundary issues... if so then try to improve on them for you and for your health.

I probably have a few things to work on, but the one problem that get's the most attention and gives me problems with girls.

Is that i'm to much of a joker, immature maybe. I make innocents remarks at some stuff that people take it so seriously, but i am just playing arround.

I see a panda "OMG IT"S SO FLUFFY IM GONNA DIE". XD

My best friend (girl) was like "really? man up, you can just say that". And i was like "really ?wtf i'm just kidding and you wanted me to be me".

Mostly it's me acting like that i guess...and exagerating my feelings/emotions, i'm very emotional.

That's ma biggest problem ^^, and being ME is bad. Repressing all that is good :).

Transitioning from a "fake" self to a "real" self is always going to be a bit brutal.

Because if you've been cruising through life in "fake" mode, then you have deceived a ton of people, including pretty much all of your friends. You've allowed them to unknowingly get attached to your "fake" self, and then now you're going to what, become a different person and expect them to feel the same way about you?

It's easy to feel like a victim, but please try to understand that you did essentially trick all of them, and that's not their fault.

Making this transition often means that you will want to start making some new friends, as well, in case the new, "real" you is not compatible with the people you have been deceiving.

Otherwise, you are going to set yourself for the (false) impression that 'nobody' likes your "real" self.

You're going to have to actually get out and about and start experiencing life and new people as your "real" self in order to find the people who like you for who you really are.

I haven't tricked anyone really, i have been ME since the start.

The real ME lost a lot of friends, the new friends i got...let's be honest they don't really get to know you in the first few months, but they got to know me relatively quick.

They complained of my bahavior from the start so i just repressed some of it.

All people do this, i wasn't someone else, i was me with not so much of the childish things i do.

I always have to repress, i honestly can't find anyone to like the way i am :).

Everyone says i am very difficult, if i don't repress some stuff i would be left with 0 friends, again.

These new ones and my BFF are relatively new, 1-2 years.

Being yourself won't necessarily get people to like you. It depends of how likeable you really are, without putting on a mask of false charm.

The point is to become confident and comfortable in your own skin, because the only way to achieve that is to always "be yourself".

Of course, this is no universal truth. If you feel the advice it's bull****, then it probably doesn't apply to you. You'd not be the only one, either.
