carhill
Why do we judge people? As social animals, our entire life is filled with social interactions, beginning from a very young age, before cognitive memory, where we are socialized into social culture in the unique style of our role models. Later, with our brains still forming, we integrate into peer social groups, judging and being judged in those interactions based upon prior socialization/interaction, further solidifying our judgment processes unique to those integrations. As further self-awareness forms, we may challenge our thought patterns and either solidify or change or do a bit of both as we mature into adults, repeating those processes over a lifetime. IMO, how the triad of id, ego and superego develop and interact plays a large part in the 'why' of judgement, along with many other aspects of personality. As individuals, with unique socialization, peer integration and intrinsic brain chemistry, our 'whys' are also unique and individual.
