M30USA
I've had short or buzzed hair my entire adult life. I am now growing it out. It's currently reaching just below my eyebrows when pulled down. My sides are also growing out and beginning to cover my ears. I use shampoo and conditioner. What I'm looking to find is a kind of hair spray or gel or paste that gives my hair a slightly moist look. But not wet. My hair is getting a bit too web-looking. It looks good when slightly moist, though. Any ideas? Edited December 10, 2014 by M30USA
Camaro Guy
I use silk drops with a combo of American Crew paste. It leaves little shine but allows me to style my hair. I have wavy hair as well.
skydiveaddict
I use a baseball cap.
Author M30USA
I've tried leave-in conditioner and it seems to do the job. I mostly needed to keep the frizzy dry look down, but I don't want a gel look. I also want economy brands. Initially I bought Garnier Fructis because the girl at store told me men can use it too. Very very fruity smell. Seems a bit girly. Does anyone know of men that actually use Garnier? It's just so inexpensive that I might keep using it.
GemmaUK
Try a few simple things to cut down on frizz first. The product you are using contains silicone I believe and silicone initially smooths hair down but does build up on hair after just a few uses therefore making frizz worse. Get a clarifying shampoo to use once a week. Also, don't use a normal towel, use a t-shirt and instead of rubbing your hair put the towel over the palms of your hands and scrunch the t-shirt into your hair to take off the excess water. Skip using a comb and only finger comb it when you are conditioning. Failing all this look up cpnditioner washing (or co-washing) which you can do with cheap as cheap conditioners which contain no silicone. I stopped my frizz completely doing it and have never spent so little on hair products.

aggie382
Look for a pomade. Pomades do different things, so look for one that adds shine. Got2b makes a unisex kind called Defiant. Axe actually makes pomade too. I little goes a long way, so just use a little, and a little more, building until you get the look you want.

I just want conditioning and shine. (Gosh I sound like a girl, lol.) Pomades usually straighten out curls, which I have, and I don't want that. Any recommendations?

Pomades usually straighten out curls, which I have, and I don't want that. Any recommendations? Pomade isn't a straightening product and it's not meant for hold. It doesn't straighten my curls at all, and mine aren't innate to my hair, they're created with a curling iron. Pomade it just used to add separation and definition. It makes my hair piecey (sp?) and adds shine. SycamoreCircle
Brother, I have thick, curly hair that tends to frizz and for nearly 16 years I have sworn by one product, a pomade, FUDGE Hair Shaper (Factor 2). Pricey, but with no equal.
anika99
I also think a pomade might be a good choice for the style you want. Just start by using a tiny bit a time. Take a small amount and rub it between your palms and the run your hands through your hair. Mostly just be prepared to try a few different products and brands before you find one that's right for you. There is a beauty product site that I participate on from time to time where average people give their personal reviews of every beauty product under the sun and the one thing that stands out there is that every body is different when it comes to these things. If a product gets 200 glowing reviews there will be just as many or sometimes even more negative reviews for the same product, because what one person finds awesome another person might find totally horrible. regine_phalange
If you have hair like this maybe you could try making . Yeah I know it sounds boring but it takes only 5 minutes and is very cheap and good for your hair. It has a weird texture like uncooked egg white, but when applied on hair and skin it leaves them very soft. You have nothing to lose. You don't need to add additives and essential oils if you don't want to. You apply it on wet hair and let it dry (don't touch it because touch on wet hair causes frizz). After it dries, if your hair is crunchy (due to water crystallizing) you just scrunch the hair and it gets unbelievably soft. But if you want a store bought product badly, then this gel is also very good. Edited January 14, 2015 by regine_phalange addition
