wondering
I really enjoy the advice given in this site. but, I am really tired of seeing how is been increasingly used to spam us with stupid website advertisements. Can something be done to stop this?
Tony T
Have you ever watched television? They interupt programs at the most critical times in shows to broadcast commercials in order to pay for production and broadcast costs. The same goes for this website, although nothing is interupted. You are not forced to click on the advertising. You don't even have to look at it. It's the most convenient and unobtrustive advertising around. Moreover, the placement of these ads...which normally contain a link to a commercial website...pays for all the expenses of maintaining LoveShack. Without advertising, LoveShack would either have to become a paysite or simply shut down. Websites are expensive to create and maintain. This one is undergoing major modifications that should be up soon. There are monthly server charges and yearly costs to renew the domain name. The site administrator is probably left putting money out of his pocket after it's all over. Advertisers pay only a few cents for each click an ad receives. If nobody clicks on it, there is no income. So if they annoy you so much, do as you would if a human being annoyed you...just ignore them. But remember, they are extremely important. To specifically answer your questions, the ads are not spam. Spam are advertisements and solicitations sent directly to your Email address without your permission or invitation and often they promote adult websites. Can anything be done about the advertising at this site? I suppose if you write LoveAngel and offer to pay all the expenses of running this site, he would rip out the advertisements the minute your check cleared the bank.
Miss Mojo
....check out the posts, and you won't even notice the advertisements. oh, and don't click on the banners if you don't want to be annoyed p.s. "spam" is actually the term used when junk mail gets sent to your e-mail address. for example, i could subscribe to a particular website to get a weekly newsletter, and another website/company might get my e-mail address from them and before you know it, i have 500 e-mails trying to get me to win a trip to florida (*always* to florida), obtain university diplomas, check out xxx sites (*all the damn time!).....i have actually used up all the space in my "block sender list" in my hotmail account. my suggestion from experience - only subscribe to legitimate sites who don't sell addresses and who have a "no spamming policy" in their disclaimer if you don't want to get annoyed by spam.
