The Old and the New

Recommended Posts

I always go the impression that the Old Testament God and the New Testament God are two different gods. Their personalities are really different, too. I don't understand why both are merged into the same religion. Especially since Jesus was basically coming down to say yall are way off track here's a new set of rules. I've always figured Christians just followed the teachings of Jesus, like whatever stories involved him and whatever he said, but nothing else. Because I mean Revelations relates back to the OT but Jesus didn't have anything to do with Revelations. People just sort of stuck it on the end of the book.

Danda, surely you have more than one facet to your personality, and you can use those facets at different times, interacting with different people...?

Take a parent. A parent doesn't treat her 5-year-old the same way she treats a 15-year-old. Though the parent may have the same love for the child, the rules are different, the roles are different, the child is different.

We are God's children, and maybe we need different facets of God's "personality" at different times...

Claiming the desires of the flesh. Of course they won't say that.

Amen M30! You know, BC brought up corruption in the church in another thread and wow. Within a matter of seconds I saw it in a condensed version, but powerful none the less.

Jesus has everything to do with the Book of Revelations and the reason it's at the end is due to the fact that it communicates Jesus second coming which hasn't happened yet.

One way to think of it that God is our heavenly Father. When I needed protecting, my dad protected me. When I was sad or scared or broken, my dad comforted me. When I was excited, my dad rejoiced with me. And when I rebelled against him, my dad disciplined me. God is the same way. People love to embrace the God/Jesus who is holding children, petting lambs, and passing out fish. They do not like the God/Jesus who disciplines sin, demands holiness, and uses a whip in the temple. That is because we are all wired to want to live the way WE want to live and not get any flak for it.
