Even though I hurt her already by engaging with her husband for so long, I cannot inflict any more hurt upon her. She knows enough and if she wants to ask me any further questions I will answer them honestly. But I guess I don't have the heart to give her the gory details. I never quite understand this logic - won't volunteer the truth but will give it if asked. I suppose the theory here is that "perhaps she doesn't want to know." It always just sounds like an excuse for inaction to me. In your case, I don't see how you can hypothesize that she wouldn't want to know. She's already tried to talk to you and her efforts to get the truth failed because you lied. She wants the truth but neither of you will give it to her. And you want to pretend that's meant in kindness? And no one said you need to start the conversation with "gory details." She may not be looking for those at all. I'm just saying to volunteer the option of finally giving her whatever honesty she requests. Right now someone is texting her crap that she can't confirm and the people that could are lying to her face. Let's stop pretending that you're doing her a favor. You could answer a lot of questions for her while she tries to figure out what to do with her life but you're choosing to leave her in the dark. 2 Link to post Share on other sites
