Yes my decision is to leave it be. Even though I hurt her already by engaging with her husband for so long, I cannot inflict any more hurt upon her. She knows enough and if she wants to ask me any further questions I will answer them honestly. But I guess I don't have the heart to give her the gory details. It won't help - it will probably traumatize her. She knows.

I never quite understand this logic - won't volunteer the truth but will give it if asked. I suppose the theory here is that "perhaps she doesn't want to know." It always just sounds like an excuse for inaction to me.

In your case, I don't see how you can hypothesize that she wouldn't want to know. She's already tried to talk to you and her efforts to get the truth failed because you lied. She wants the truth but neither of you will give it to her. And you want to pretend that's meant in kindness?

And no one said you need to start the conversation with "gory details." She may not be looking for those at all. I'm just saying to volunteer the option of finally giving her whatever honesty she requests. Right now someone is texting her crap that she can't confirm and the people that could are lying to her face. Let's stop pretending that you're doing her a favor. You could answer a lot of questions for her while she tries to figure out what to do with her life but you're choosing to leave her in the dark.

Either way you are done for especially if his wife now knows about you and if his children also know about you then the children are also going to want to confront you too since you have been having an affair with their father while he is married to their mother but the wife if she knows about you if she ever comes face to face with you in the flesh then yes I would say you are done for
