My bosses...are really makin me mad guys

I just started this job a few months ago.

 

I had to learn a whole new database that I'd never even worked with,maneuvered well enough to spit out exactly what they need...oh yes, and on time...let me explain..

 

So...I had to learn the new system as quickly as possible ASAP to get bills out to people, and put in new money that was coming in every day, along with getting people set up and registered as they walked into my office taking me away from my work, because that's part of the job too. So needless to say, its a slow but steady process.

 

The next thing I know, its 2 months later and people still owe us money from January and who's it falling on....ME. These people, are not all new to this...they know how much they owe every month, and when they signed up...they were told how much their monthly rate is, but they act like unless they recieve a bill from me, they dont have to pay. So now...its like I have to cold-call people, (apologize for not sending them a bill?) and tell them how much they owe. NOT fun at all.

 

Did I mention, now I have to get all of this money in by the end of the month, when people are SLOWWW to pay.

I've had to write in, what people owe on their bills because our DOS/Green-Screen Middle-Ages system won't let me put them into the system unless they pay us what they already owe...and my boss said it doesnt look professional! But that's the only way it can be done, because the stupid system is so old!!!

 

"So did you find a way to print up those invoices?" the boss said the other day. Yeah...I used my magic freakin wand and everything is now going just the way you want it to. SO IRRITATING.

 

The archaic database Im working with, makes my job so slow...and Im running smack into deadlines that Im not ready for and my bosses, dont understand, and they just expect me to get the money in, so that their numbers look alright. I can do what they want, for some stuff...but for those invoices...im at a loss.

 

They're lookin at me like Im slacking off...when every time they walk in, im working on stuff! That stupid green screen is always up! They've said themselves that they dont really know how to work the stupid system, yet they expect me to do miracles???

 

Oh did I mention that I have to go on these work retreat weekend things, that I dont get paid for...and if I dont go, its ridiculously taboo? Im sorry, when I signed up, I didnt know you would have free range to take my weekends whenever you wanted too!

 

I have to get out of this job, but there's this whole guilt thing going through my mind, because Im the only one who knows how to work this stuff! Im drowning.

Do we work for the same business?? j/k but that sounds alot like where I work except instead of sending out bills every month we send out coupons & envelopes about 2-3 weeks before the first payment is due then its their responsibility to keep up w/ it & when they don't pay they get late fees and we don't have to worry about it. It's ALOT easier than doing the month to month billing. Have you talked to your boss about some kind of new system?

 

I don't have to worry about the weekend thing (that we HAVE to attend) which I think is ridiculous if you don't get paid for it. Will you get fired if you don't attend? We have things like that sometimes(like once ever 4-6 months) but they are more like mini vacations we just have to attend a class for about 1-2 hours a day depending on the company whose hosting it but we get free room & board so its not that bad. But they are optional to go to.

 

But if you decide to quite, find a new job & help them find someone to fill in & offer to train them before you leave but you shouldn't feel guilty about it. You shouldn't be miserable in your job it just makes your free time stressful b/c your always thinking about work.

Yeah...im so sick of this job. Im more nervous than usual there now, because I feel like my bosses are always droppin in on me, "just to see if Im working on stuff."

 

I almost want to meet with them to say hey, you dont have to worry about me being a lazy arse, im not slacking alright!

 

We're going to be switching to a comany-wide new system which will be much quicker soon. Easier? We'll see. The summer is going to be just maddening from what I hear, and people keep warning me about.

 

Im scared, to be honest. If they're this much on my arse and its not even summer yet...what's to come? Are they going to turn into real crazies come May?

 

Ugh I have to work tomorrow, great. Did I mention Im a full time student, on top of this job 3 days a week?
