Can suicide ever be ok?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone think there are circumstances when taking your own life is justified? Although it may hurt some people maybe your life circumstances have reached a point where you just don't want to deal anymore?

I don't think it's fair to judge someone who wants to, or does, end their life. I don't know their struggles or their pain or their demons. Who am I to call it selfish? In fact, I think it's selfish to want someone to keep living through unspeakable misery and pain.

With that being said, no one should ever commit suicide without exhausting every single avenue to improving their circumstances over and over again. The people you're leaving behind will be devastated beyond words, so fight as hard as you can to turn it around.

OP, if you are thinking about taking your life, I beg you to keep fighting. Don't give up just yet. I've had suicidal thoughts myself, but I didn't want to miss out on all the beauty that I could find in this world, nor did I want to hurt the people I love. It's tough, because while life can be difficult, it shouldn't be a constant battle drenched in anguish and sadness. Things can get better with some faith and some fight.

If you want to talk, please feel free to message me. I am on here frequently and I'd love to listen and help anyway I can.

God bless.

If you have a terminal illness and you make arrangements to go through an assisted suicide, legitimately and legally, (naturally, you may have to travel to a different part of the world for this) then, given all legalities are satisfied, there may well be justifiable reasons.

To commit suicide, simply because "you" (generic, not 'you' specific) think it's justified?

no.

It is, as they say, a permanent solution to a temporary situation.

The one decision you will never live to regret.

And do I think it's selfish?

Yes, I'm afraid I do.

The devastation and sense of bewilderment and loss, left with those who remain, is unquenchable.
