simplybrill
Ok this goes along with the post I did earlier "My bosses are making me very mad" I put in as much money as I could, given the notice of our deadline and the time I had the days I was working. Big surprise...I didnt get in enough money, and there's still a lot to go into the system. I told my boss, I apologized, and even told him what Im going to be doing differently from now on, to make things go faster to get more money in...and he said "forget about it, ill talk to you about it tomorrow"- Im part time, and only work every other day because I'm also in school. Yeah...needless to say he is VERY very pissed. Because he has to answer to his boss, as to why we havent met our goals. I'm scared, because if I get him in trouble...then he's going to be VERY dissapointed in me, and im going to be in SO much trouble. I keep thinking, I'm going to walk in there Friday, and not have a job. I'm supposed to go on a work weekend thing this weekend,,,how am I supposed to go, with everyone mad at me!! This is the second time we havent met our goals and I only started 2 months ago, and had to learn this whole database system from scratch!!
laRubiaBonita
well explain that you have had to learn this data system from scratch. are you doing better this month? how much better? how fast are you getting? when will you be up to par? these are somethings you maybe asked. RoxStar
With out knowing specifically what you do its hard to advise you on how to improve. Send me a PM if you want and we can discuss. I am in a career management related field and I might be able to help you. I would need to know what line of work you are in. For example you stated you need to get money in. That could be sales, collections, brokerage etc. and each would probably need a different work flow to increase productivity in order to meet goals. Also what are your goals set at and how far off have you been at meeting them? Is this an individual goal or is it team based?
MWC_LifeBeginsAt40
I would stay away from making excuses about the time and lack of knowledge about the system. Instead evaluate yourself - did you improve over last month? If so, apologize for not meeting the goals this month but point out that you did notice an improvement over last month, and ask if he noticed this as well. Ask him, and ask yourself, what can you do differently to improve even more in the coming months. Also point out that you are learning the system and getting better at it every day. If he knows you are not just coming in and doing day to day stuff, but really striving to be your best, then how can he be pissed at you or disappointed for that matter? Another suggestion, if you find that you are short on time, don't wait until after the deadline. Keep your boss informed of your progress throughout the month so you both can determine how things are looking for month-end and what kind of suggestions everyone can come up with for meeting the goals. Sometimes deadlines are imposed on us unfairly but if you can keep communication open and not fool yourself that you are superwoman, things will be better all around.
