Marie1973
Hello Again As per my previous post, my best friend got mad at me because i asked her to drive to lunch & she lost her close parking spot at work. Well we haven't spoke for 2 weeks until yesterday. I was walking up the hall back after lunch & she walked by & she tripped on the rug As i coughed. I heard her yell " FU, u F**** Bit**" & just continued on my way to the bathroom. WELL, i'm in the stall & all of a sudden she opens the door & yells, "if u want to laugh at something, look at your ugly face in the mirror, bitch". There was another girl in there with me that heard this, i was so embarrassed. I guess when kim tripped on the rug & i coughed she thought i laughed at her, which was not the case at all, i coughed. Does she have insecuries or what. So i storm up to the front desk where she works, she's the receptionist & i said "don't u ever speak to me like that in the workplace" she said "i'm not afraid of you, u f**** bitch. I told her i'm not in the mood for her **** right now & that i'll go to HR & she said "go ahead bitch." So i stormed up to HR & told her boss how i will not stand for this baby immature crap in the workplace & i want her written up. HR said that they will talk to her, it was very unprofessional & if she does it again, she will not longer have a job there. So thats was my exciting Thursday. Could u believe this once "best friend" of mine, Flipping out & going off like that in the workplace because she thought i laughed at her. Does she have problems or what!! After i told some co-workers what happened, they said that she must be so jealous of me & it bothers her, to act that way. What is wrong with people? The older i get the more i see what most people are idiots. What is going on???
RoxStar
How old are you guys? She honestly got mad about a parking spot. Sounds odd to me. Maybe some other underlying issue??? It doesnt seem very professional at all to be having screaming matches at the front desk or in the bathroom either. Yall need to leave the personal issues outside the office and resolve it there. I am sure its no fun for your other colleagues and coworkers to witness squabbles over immature things as tripping on rugs or losing parking spaces. Seriously there are much bigger issues in this world.
EC
I agree waaaay to much bigger issues in the world than that. She sounds very immatuire and I think you did the right thing by going to HR. Even though I wouldve stormed out of the stall toilet paper in hand and told her to go F*ck herself! lol JK! But yeah It seems shes jealous and insecure. With friends like that who needs enemies right?

I understand your ire, and you did the right thing by going to HR, but be careful it doesn't come back and bite you because you were discussing what happened with others! Why not write down exactly what happened --starting with the parking spot up to now so that HR can have a written statement from you during their investigation. Stay calm when talking w/ HR too -- be the professional. Try to stick to facts and leave your emotions separate. Communicate them by all means, but separate them in the written statement. I've had to do that and the easiest way I did it was to state the facts first and in an indented statement below, in italics I would write how it made me feel. It's easier for HR and helps keep your thoughts clear. I hope that it can be handled quickly and easily.
Pocky
She said this: I was walking up the hall back after lunch & she walked by & she tripped on the rug As i coughed. WELL, i'm in the stall & all of a sudden she opens the door & yells, "if u want to laugh at something, look at your ugly face in the mirror, bitch". There was another girl in there with me that heard this, i was so embarrassed. And you said this: So i storm up to the front desk where she works, she's the receptionist & i said "don't u ever speak to me like that in the workplace" she said "i'm not afraid of you, u f**** bitch. I told her i'm not in the mood for her **** right now & that i'll go to HR & she said "go ahead bitch." And you think she's being immature? You certainly didn't act like an adult when you went into the office and spoke to her this way out in the open so that anyone that passed by would have seen it. What she said was completely unacceptable, yet you turn around and act the same way. How is your behavior any more mature than hers? If you want people to be held to a higher standard then you need to hold yourself to that standard as well. I'm not saying you can't express your opinion how you want to, but pointing out her immaturity for something you turned around and did seems a little childish in my opinion. Technically, you both could be fired for your behavior. If you want to take the adult route and be treated like an adult then you have to act like one. Even when someone else forces you into these types of situations. She was wrong, there's no denying it, but you didn't make matters any better by cursing her out in the office. You didn't distance yourself from the immaturity and you didn't give the impression that you were capable of conducting yourself in a professional manner. Don't let others determine how you behave. Don't simply react to situations you find yourself in. Being incapable of controlling your behavior can cause serious problems. Now she knows she can get a rise out of you. Now she knows that you are affected by what she does and how she responds to you. Ambivalence is your greatest defense.
